I came up with this question the other day...
when light passes through glass or another object, does it slow down?
If so, doesnt that mean that it would be theoretically possible to stop light completely?

Yes, light does slow down when passing through any solid medium including glass. The conventional 'speed of light' figure is only that speed for light travelling through a vacuum. Researchers at Harvard University and Russia's Lebedev institute succeeded, several years ago, in slowing light down accurately and considerably, and eventually in stopping it completely.
