I've tried:
1. chocolate-covered ants
2. escargot (snails)
3. deep-fried wasps
4. sweetbreads (ordered by mistake, thought they were a pastry, found out later they were cow's brains!)

Alligator is probably the most exotic thing that I've eaten. It was a little rubbery.

Hope it's ok if I had my "weirdies" to the list!
1. A burger made of ostrich meat.
2. An alligator kebob.

Given where you live Froya, I am not surprised... I guess we get the same reactions when we antipodeans say we eat kangaroo crocodile and emu!

Buffalo (not too weird here)

Not weird at all, here - I probably eat more bison than beef.

I think it is a little tastier - a stronger taste. It is very similar though; I have served it to many people who never noticed, and were surprised to hear that the stew or spagetti sauce had not been beef. It's a healthier meat, much leaner.
It's just a wee bit more expensive than beef, here. I think it is a little cheaper to raise, as the animals are of course well adapted to our climate and grazing, don't need much help. (I live near the Alberta Saskatchewan border, in Canada)

I was brought up in Pennsylvania Dutch (Deutsche) country and occasionally was served Scrapple for breakfast. I found out later the name came from the leftovers, or "scraps," of hog butchering and was made from hog heart, tongue, liver and even brains, mixed with cornmeal, formed into loaves, sliced and fried. When it was covered in maple syrup it was actually pretty good!

Guinea pig, iguana, monkey paw, chicken eyeball (not by choice), cow intestine, blood pudding (sheep), and masato (I will describe if you want, but it is gross - trust me).

Hey, sorry to keep you all in suspense, I forgot I had posted a reply.
I lived in Peru in 1982-83 and was in a jungle city by the name of Pucallpa. The Quechuan indians make a drink called masato (sp?). It is made from a potato-like vegetable called uca. The outer peel - more of a bark - is removed, the inside is cut into bite-size pieces (it is very fibrous), the pieces are chewed and spit into a large container, the chunks are strained out, the juice is covered and left to ferment, and the resulting liquor is considered very tasty. I sampled the unfermented version, but didn't know the details until afterwards. It smelled like rotten cabbage and tasted worse. The other oddities I named were either eaten in Peru or on the Navajo reservation in Arizona where I lived in the '70's. Bon apetit!

When I was young (about 15), I was burning off the wheat stubble after harvesting, and the fire ran straight over the back of an Eastern Brown snake- a very deadly and savage snake. He was less than impressed, and reared up at me. Fortunately, I was armed with my 'patent' snake-killer (4-5 strands of 12-gauge fencing wire plaited together, about 5 feet long).

I managed to kill him, and took him home. Much to my mother's disgust, I borrowed a frypan, skun the snake, and fried him up in butter.

It was tasty, white meat, but snakes have an AWFUL lot of ribs..

Bustard!

It's a large Australian flightless bird. Well not as large as an Emu but it aint a quail either. It's an endangered species and most people cant touch it with a barge pole. Fortunatly the local aboriginal folk are permitted to hunt it (traditional, just ignore the firearm). Best tasting birdlife i've tried.
Deep Fried Mars Bars

This Scottish "delicacy" should not be overlooked when it comes to weird.

Actually just yesterday I had a choccy bar with pink peppercorns in it!

After a visit home in Canada, I returned to my classroom in Switzerland with a bottle of maple syrup and some disposable spoons so that my students could taste a typical Canadian treat. Many of them refused to try it! If I could eat their boudin(blood suasage) and tripe(cows' stomachs), it seemed odd that they wouldn't even try tree sap.

It's probably a good thing that I didn't try to get them to eat dulse.
