I am sorry but I just couldn't do it...

BBC New website

I could hold it upsidedown and bang it on the back or whatever to remove the lump of meat, but the kiss of life, sorry but no.

I watched my Mom give Mouth to Mouth to her chihauhau when a Eagle had grabbed him and then dropped him when My Mother threw a rock at it and the poor little doggie got dropped from a fair height.
He survived but I am not sure I could do it either. But who knows what we would do if a animal we cared about was hurt or needed that kind of help.
I know My Husband would do it in a heart beat.

I could. Of course, one of our dogs had the 'bionic tongue' and could end up French kissing you if you weren't careful, so I guess I'm used to dog slobber.

Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation should be done with a protective mask, unless it's a frog.

Yeah, but when it's life/death and there isn't one around...

I did hear one study in Phoenix (I think?) where they were doing CPR without the breaths and just doing the compressions (add compressions where the breath normally was). The thinking was to teach people just the compressions because most people won't do mouth to mouth on a stranger anyway and you can live longer without oxygen than you can with your heart not beating. (Given that the EMTs were arriving soon enough to relieve the bystander who was doing CPR.) According to their study, there was no change in injury rates with the breaths taken out and substituted with the compressions.
