If so, I'd love to chat! Major fan of the book and the movie~ and NOT because they used a bunch of hunks in the movie, but because the context of the story was so great and true to life!

Hate to be a bubble-burster, but I've taught "The Outsiders" to my 8th grade students for several years. Even those students who saw the movie first were then disappointed by it after having studied the book. If you liked it, check out "Rumble Fish," another S.E. Hinton novel made into a movie by Coppola.

I've read all S.E. Hinton's novels. Yeah, I liked Rumble Fish too, although the movie didn't thrill me. Maybe it was all the black & white. "That Was Then, This Is Now" was pretty much the same. The book was good, kindof picked up where Outsiders left off, but the movie was lacking. They didn't even set it in the right decade!
Thanks for replying!

Nature´s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf´s a flower
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day,
Nothing gold can stay.

- Robert Frost
(from The Outsiders)

I love that poem and enjoyed the movie alot!

Glad to hear from ya'll! What was the part of the book/movie that had the most impact on you, thought provokingly wise? Just wondered.
