Ripped straight from my top 100 of all time spreadhseet:

1. Return of the Living Dead (1985)
2. Closetland (1991)
3. Seven (1995)
4. Night of the Living Dead (1968)
5. The Maltese Falcon (1941)
6. The Manchurian Candidate (1962)
7. The Last Temptation of Christ (1988)
8. Scanners (1981)
9. The Fisher King (1991)
10. Phantasm (1977)

Of your top 10, I've seen eight (which is actually pretty amazing for me... I don't get out much), only missing Fight Club (which I plan to change ASAP) and Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler... ugh). American History X was far and away the best of '98 on my list. Wonderful film.

Boy, is my age showing or what?

1. Gone With the Wind - way ahead of its time
2. No Way Out - gave meaning to the term ‘trick ending’
3. Primal Fear - a close second to No Way Out
4. Harold and Maude - can a teenager fall in love with an 80 year old? You bet, with lots of sick humor.
5. Wait Until Dark - even though I know it’s coming, ‘that scene’ still makes me jump
6. Camelot - this has to be the worst film ever made, which makes it one of my favorites in the ‘how to take a delightful story and ruin it with lousy casting’ category. Have you ever heard Vanessa Redgrave sing? It isn’t pretty.
7. Show Boat - only because this film is always ignored...people insist upon calling Oklahoma the first ‘modern musical’...Show Boat preceeded it by at least 10 years.
8. Forget Paris - a pure delight...Billy Crystal at his best. Somehow getting a live pidgeon stuck to your head makes perfect sense when you see it here.
9. Blazing Saddles - an offensive movie in many areas, but I adore Madeleine Kahn’s ‘Teutonic Titwillow’ Deitrich take off
10. A Tie Dave and The American President - satisfying...the way things should be in the world of politics

My top ten favorites (as of this morning) are:

Gone With the Wind
An Affair to Remember (original)
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?
The Trouble with Angels ( I was like 12 when this came out and
went to catholic school with nuns- it
was our "rebellion" movie)
Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind
All About Eve
Independence Day
The American President
The Color Purple
It's a Wonderful Life

Vendome, I actually like Camelot, which I know is sad, but my favorite bad movie was "Change of Habit" starring Elvis and Mary Tyler Moore - have you seen it? Perfectly, wonderfully, awful!

Mine are:

Chariots of Fire (by a mile)
Gone with the Wind
The Jungle Book (love the songs!)
Sleuth (Olivier and Caine..brilliant play, brilliant film)
The Matrix
Bridges of Madison Country (I wept buckets)
The Third Man (needs no comment)
North by Northwest(out-Bonds Bond!)
Saving Private Ryan
Beckett

Most are old, classic movies...I bet I'll be back to add and subtract to this list over and over again

Oh gosh, I forgot Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Sting...but what do I take out......

Jen,

High Society is a great film. A film that has Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Bing bh bh bh bah Crosby and Grace Kelly can't go wrong. Who was the actress that played the female reporter?

It's hard to think of just ten and I'm sure I've forgotten some great film(s). Anyway, in no particular order:

Gone with the Wind
The Colour Purple
Kenneth Branagh's Henry V
North by Northwest
African Queen
The Breakfast Club
Separate Tables
Brief Encounter
Good Morning Vietnam
The Princess Bride

I know there's nothing very recent on that list - I like movies best after they've sort of grown on me!

Very tough to pick a top 10 list in movies. Movies today are so excellent that all the older ones are at a competitive disadvantage. Not counting any that have been made in the last 20 years (Of which most of my top 10 would be comprised) here is my list.
1. Jeremiah Johnson
2. The Magnificent Seven
3. The Wizard of Oz
4. The Big Chill
5. 2001 A Space Odyssey
6. Apocalypse Now
7. Hondo
8. Scarecrow
9. Breaking Away
10.A Clockwork Orange
