There are a few TV series characters that I look forward to seeing each week (or daily if the series has gone into syndication) because I love to hate them. Which, if you think about it, is an indication of the good actor/tress they are.
My first choice comes from "Law and Order" and is Tovah Feldshuh (Danielle Melnick) who, if you're lucky, will play the defense attorney. She gives the DA's office a run for their money with her snide and sarcastic comments; you can almost hear her filing her incisors during the opening credits.
My second choice comes from "NYPD Blue," and is Dennis Franz (Detective Sipowicz). He strikes me as an intelligent Archie Bunker. Let's face it, Archie was the way he was because he didn't have the intelligence or sophistication; he didn't know any better. Sipowicz knows better but is still intolerant, prejudiced and self-absorbed. I don't laugh at Sipowicz like I used to laugh at Archie. But I can't help but like the guy; he's a work in progress.
Any others?
