In all honesty, Jean Claude Van-Damme cannot act. He does some fairly decent moves I tell ya, but acting? Nah, not for him. I find it hard to believe I'm saying this considering I own every one of his movies! Hey, I'm only human! He's still hot! [This message has been edited by NalaMarie (edited 06-06-2000).]

Peter Fonda, in most of the movies I've seen with him he never plays a good character.

Sofia Coppola in The Godfather 3. I hope she's a better director.

TSA1000 - Check out Peter's role in Ulees' Gold. Well deserving of his Academy nomination. (He should've won IMHO!) Leprechaun - c'mon, Alec was superb in Hunt for Red October; Maimi Blues; Malice and Glengary Glen Ross; Billy had fine performances in Backdraft and Flatliners; Billy had at least one good role in A Simple Twist of Fate and Daniel, while not having standout roles (except for maybe Tree's Lounge) has done good steady supporting work for years. And don't "dis" Adam Baldwin (Not relation to the above) Who's got perhaps the best track record with roles in Ordinary People, My Bodyguard; Full Metal Jacket; Next of Kin; Independance Day and The Patriot.

Verily, where dost one begin.... Madonna(?):for starters...she can sing her ___ off, but when it comes to emoting in front of cameras_no way Jose! "Evita" was the PITS! Pauley Shore(sic):Hey where is that 1-dimensional flop anyway? Ahnold Swartzeneger:better that he shouldn't"be back"after all! Demi Moore:tasteless, immature, trite & hackneyed...her roles reflect her desperation as an actress!
Charlton Heston:Moses he's not! His acting style is pure hackneyed... although re-elected as NRA president, he assumes the role as though he were up for an award(OSCAR)! Oh yeah, I just remembered another one: Sylvestore (Duh) Stallone,"Rambo" series...for the life of me,I just can't picture this dummy of an actor, becoming certified as an actual Green "Beanie"(beret)... Some chump like that in the Nam, would've been KIA his first day in the bush! [This message has been edited by PhoenixProgram (edited 07-04-2000).]

Hate to put down a fellow Canuck, but Keanu Reeves should be cast in non-speaking roles only.

Okay I'm back! And then there was John Wayne... positively king of wanna-be actors! The guy was a real zero! I'm just sorry that he wasn't really thrown by a horse in one of his westerns! The following have already been panned elsewhere here...but I just wanted to vent my spleen... Alicia Silverstone:sounds like kitchenware...her acting is clueless. Sigourney Weaver: hey she looks like she was beat with an ugly stick, and her acting is crappy! Jean Claude Van-Damme: He could put somebody to sleep...he's boring!

Hey, Sigourney Weaver is one of the most beautiful women in film! I go by a theory that every bad actor(ess) gets one good role that keeps them from this category, but someone brought one up to me last night I can't think of a single good role for: Albert Brooks. Who the heck is Albert Brooks? Sigourney - beautiful? Not exactly how I would discribe her I read an interview with Alicia Siverstone in Rolling Stone a few years ago and she said the dumbest thing - it was something like "I don't take anything for granted - everytime I go to the toilet, I thank the toilet paper" I think she was serious

Heston is the worst ham I've ever seen. Then again, there is always poor Keanu, he really tries so hard.

Gotta be, hands down winner...DUSTIN HOFFMAN. PLEASE!! I can't stand this guy. I always thought that the sign of a good actor was that you forgot the actor's identity and concentrated on the character portrayed. Not so with Hoffman. You can always say..there's Dustin Hoffman playing a guy with autism, or a Hollywood producer, whatever. Plus, he seems to go for 'cute aand quirky' too much. I HATE cute and qwirky, especially when it's used to replace talent. Other than that, he's fine. ------------------ "That's never happened in world history, and it hasn't happened since." Y. Berra

Okay, I'm only two months late in replying to praxis... YEAH, Sigourney Weaver is a total babe, you wanna make somethin' of it? Albert Brooks' most recent destruction of celluloid was The Muse, also starring Sharon Stone. Avoid it mightily at a vidshack near you. R ------------------ FINALITY

I must agree with Jabberwock - Keanu Reeves is an absolute shocker. I enjoyed the Bill & Ted movies but it was only later I realised he wasn't acting (every film he has done since seems to be the same character!!) The Bill and Ted movies were great...he was perfect for those movies...Speed was okay....The Matrix was an excellent movie, but not because of Keanu...everything else he has played in, he has sucked.

I was going to post to say that Keanu is the worst actor working today. If you think he is bad in his action roles, just watch him ruin Kenneth Branagh's "Much Ado About Nothing". Lord, who let that hack near Shakespeare? But, I'm more than a little surprised to see a couple of actors considered amongst the top five actors of all time being mentioned. Dustin Hoffman? Marlon Brando? More shocking is that Brando's performance in "Streetcar Named Desire" was referenced as evidence that he's a bad actor. I think he's brilliant in that movie. Considering that the character is a dumb, sexually charged lout, it should not be surprising some of his lines seem stupid. He was playing a fairly dumb guy. And mentioning Hoffman only in reference to "Rain Man" seems unfair; what about "The Graduate" or "Midnight Cowboy" or "Tootsie". Hoffman's only problem is his lack of ability to pick good scripts: "Outbreak" and "Ishtar" stick out. He doesn't make horrible movies great, but he doesn't make great movies horrible (Keanu?). Nor does he annoyingly chew scenery like Al Pacino. I'm trying to think of a subtle Al Pacino performance. I can't do it. Nor can I think of a movie in which his character is not a "loud and/or emotional Italian-American". ------------------ I Need Some Partners! --JoJo
