I liked "L.A. Confidential."

I also liked him in "Outbreak."

Well, his very presence makes a movie great...

But I'd have to say The Usual Suspects. It has a special place in my heart, since that's where he first caught my eye.

Has anyone heard the rumor about a new Pink Panther movie, with Kevin Spacey? I think it's completely unsubstantiated, but I'm wondering about it.

SEVEN!
SEVEN!
SEVEN!

Well, okay, it's the best of the films Spacey has made, but his part in it was so small that I can't really say it was HIS movie... in which case I'll go with The Usual Suspects. I sat there stunned for a long, long time at the end of that one.

For sheer Kevin-ness I gotta go with American Beauty. I left the theater IN LOVE with him and I don't get that way too often. He was just so incredible.

Swimming with Sharks---even tho he plays a bad guy he is great.

The Negotiator, Seven, Usual Suspects, Consenting Adults, LA Confidential,

For comedy the best is THE REF!!! KILLS ME!!!

I'm with xterminal on this.
Se7en is a dominating preformance. He dosen't appear until the last quarter of the movie. But, from that moment on it's all his. Morgan Freeman? Brad Pitt? Where they in the movie?...oh yeah, they were "the stars".
He won his oscar for Unusual Suspects but I think it was because they couldn't award him "Best Actor" for a suporting role.

He had a good bit in Glengarry Glen Ross, Too.
And go far back and catch him as a aserbic stand up comic in Rocket Gibralter

Cohalen-- actually, Spacey was supposed to be the star of the film, but he asked that his name be taken off the credits altogether in order to preserve the surprise. (And what a job he did.) Didn't quite leave me as gaping and babbling as The Usual Suspects did-- I still can't wrap my head completely around the genius of The Usual Suspects-- but Seven has a style to it that gives me the creeps. Very very few movies are capable of giving me the creeps.

For me it was just the focus he commanded when he first appeared. He's in the middle of the squad room the "star" detectives are walking upstairs and all attention is rivited on him. Masterful.
And no matter how dominant his presence was his role couldn't be considered for a best actor role. He wsn't the protagonist and he didn't have enough "story time" to qualift for a best actor nomination. Where as in Usual Suspects he fit both criteria even though Gabriel Byrne got top billing.
