As soon as it comes out in England....I'm there.... I've read the book of the film and it reads like an absolute brilliant film. It's a shame same of the characters have been changed to suit the film...but overall it looks good. ------------------ Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!

Poor Warren Worthington III. I knew that character would never fly (yuck, yuck, try the veal...I'm here all week!) Angel doesn't even get a cameo roll, though Iceman and The Beast do. Do you think they picked a strong enough actor for Cyclops. He looks like a boy next to Framke Jantsen. Wolverine looks right, though.

I think they have got the wrong man for Cyclops....and why are they calling Jean Grey....Dr.Jean Grey...She is no doctor. Jubilee also makes a cameo appearance..Plus my favorite...Shadowcat..(Kitty Pride) I thought they would at least stick to the original five but alas they didn't. If they make a second...they should have at least Gambit !! ------------------ Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom!

I've been keeping up with the news. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who picked up on some problems. Granted, I'll be waiting in line for the theater doors to open, but a few things bugged me about it. In the movie, Frog has a tongue that he uses like a whip. Uh...yeah, whatever. And Wolverine doesn't have the housings on the backs of his hands. I know it's minor, but it's like a trademark. I agree that Cyclops looks too young, but I always thought he was far to much of a whining &$#%(wimp) to be leading the troops anyway. And what timeline are they trying to work with, or did they just make up a new one to sell a movie? The events that are the plot for the movie don't match with the X-men lineup they're using. It seems like a producer was more interested in crowd-pleasing, effect-driven characters than in keeping in tune with events that took place in the "Marvel Universe" years ago. Okay, I'm done ranting. Now it's time to sell. The effects are great! The stars they have gotten for this are wonderful! Have you seent he trailers? There's three out so far, and they're all really cool! You can even register yourself with the Institute for Gifted Youngsters! (Guess who's been registered since the day it came online?) Check all this out and more at the X-MEN web site. ------------------ Without the dark, there would be no light.

I'm going to see X-Men this Friday or a sneak preview if one flys by. I too read the book based on the film. I found it pretty much exciting. The only flaw was that is could've been more complicated, more mysterious, you know like challenging. Other than that it was great, So if it follows the book I'll enjoy it. I hope to see it at number 1 at the box office. I'm very sad that Gambit(my favorite of the X-Men) isn't in it. All those cameo appearances that everyone mentioned so far in this topic(such as The Beast and Iceman) aren't in it (however I've seen some parts in the preview that aren't in the book). Although Jubilee is in the book for a sec. I completely agree that Cyclops looks to young. I also think they should've made Magneto a little younger, he's over 66 years old in the book

It wasn't so much James Marsten's Age that I didn't think was right. Cyclops was the natural leader of the "Original" X-Men and Jane Grey's Lover. He's just (From the work I've seen so far) not "MAN" enough to handle either Jane Grey, Framke Jantsen Or the Leadership of the X-Men (in any incarnation of the team[s]). The Movie Credits list actors with speaking roles for both Iceman & The Beast...that is what I was going on (no Lisating for Angel). And... IT OPENS TOMORROW!!!!!! WHOOOHOOOOOO!!!! ------------------ I often think we live two lives. The one we learn with; and the one we live after that. [This message has been edited by Cohalen (edited 07-13-2000).]

I saw the movie earlier today and I'll have to say it's the best movie I've seen so far this summer. Hugh Jackman was excellent as Wolverine(Logan). Everyone else was good too. Although there weren't speaking parts from The Beast. Iceman did have a small part in it though. Well see it everyone! [This message has been edited by TSA1400 (edited 07-14-2000).]

glad to hear about Beast and Iceman gettin cameos (Since they are original members) But what about the coolest Nightcrawler! What are the X-Men without the stench of brimstone and the trademark BAMF! ?? Not to mention Colossus. I used to collect and read X-Men when I was around 15. I am gonna see the flic tomorrow (Sunday) No doubt I will be entertained

The Beast mention was My fault! When I first went to the listing on IMDB, they HAD an actor listed playing The Beast. Since the movie was released the listing has changed. His part most likely ended on the cutting room floor. (I wish I'd printed it out as I was going to, oh well!) http://us.imdb.com/Credits?0120903 Hugh Jackman has launched his career with this! A Great screen presence. He's had limited exposure before this film but he's already done another film with "name actors". The film (overall) was a good beginning. Like the first Star Trek movie, I dont' think it's as good as it can get, but a good anchor for a fine franchise of movies. (Think Wrath of Khan!) Famke Janssan was...mmmmmhh, well suited as Jane Grey. And we got to See and Hear the real Ray Park (Finally)! Good Job! James Marsden wasn't nearly as grim or tortured as I recall Cyclops being but he had a few good exchanges with Wolverine that had good chemistry. Other than that he did a good impression of Tom Cruise...as often as possible. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos As Mystique was possibly the most threatening of all of Magneto's group. And the only one that seemed to have real villiany at the core. Some very funny lines at times (How do I know it's you?) and some good "inside" jokes (Yellow Spandex). I saw the movie yesterday and I thought it was fantasic. I knew absolutely nothing about the X-Men before so I can't make any comparisons but I thought the special effects were out of this world. Remember when they were looking for Rogue (I am not sure of the spelling) and they had shots of everyday people behind her as she was just standing there in her green cloak? Well, there were these two women talking and laughing walking behind her and I swear they looked like Hilary Clinton and Monica Lewinsky look-a-likes chatting together. Did anyone else notice this or was it my imagination?

Pak plays Toad, on of Magneto's lackey's, with a slimy 12-foot tongue. Here is his quote from CINEFANTASTIQUE quote:
"If I'm totally evil all the time," mused actor Ray Park, "it's boring. It's got to have that sleazy comic speck to it as well. There has got to be a balance."

Just stopping in to blow my trumpet about our gorgeous Aussie actor Hugh Jackman who plays Wolverine. He is one of our favourite sons, very multi-talented (unlike export Kylie Minogue). He actually sang at the Rugby League Grand Final last year. Fabulous voice, great actor and cute to boot!

Naturally, mine was Wolverine, although it nearly kills me to pick him over a tall leggy model wearing nothing but some paint. Ouch. No...I really liked how they kept to his bad attitude and made him biker trash. ------------------ Without the dark, there would be no light.

hey guys! just got back from the movies with the wife and kids. Knew absolutely nothing about the X-men (except for some names I read in the snake game the other week) but must say I just loved, we all did! I had some difficulties at times keeping up with it but the wife kept me on track as to who was who and what was where (women and their sixth sense) .. she explained the plastic prison to me (der). There were some great one liners, how do I know it's you like Cohalen said above, and keep your eye on it is another .. and man, Hugh Jackman was just fantastic .. and the nurse wasn't bad either!!

The X-men have finally arrived in the UK... Saw it last night at a preview showing... What a Film !! If you never knew what the X-men were you would enojoy the film...it is that good. For all those comic book fans...it is still a good film but you know it is missing some information. But, they can't put everything (All 30 years) into ONE film. I thought Wolverine was portrayed really well.....True to the comic. Rogue....not all there !! (She is a lot tougher) Cameo by Iceman....pathetic !! Cameo by Shadowcat...too quick !! Who was the guy who created flames..? Was that supposed to Rusty Collins ?
What happened to Jubilee ? She was in the book of the film... ------------------ Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer !!

It must be love! My daughter took her boyfriend to see the film this evening as a surprise present for him - I understand that she also enjoyed it and she really didn't think that she would. Sounds as if it will appeal to many - if you are in two minds as to whether to see it give it a go. ------------------ From over the pond....
