A woman was caught trying to smuggle heroin into Sydney from Singapore last week. She had swallowed 320 condoms. THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY. I doubt I could swallow one.

The Age story

"The charge carries a maximum penalty of $825,000 and/or life imprisonment." They should have put her on an aeroplane back to Singapore ....

I could never risk my life for something like that. Not only do I not agree with using drugs, but I'm with you Copago, I doubt I could swallow even one. Not to mention the dangers if they were to bust!

I guess some people just need the money bad enough to think that the risk is worth it.

My son who is currently in a psychiatric hospital (against his will) told me that he has taken (illegal) heroin since being a patient, needless to say I am devastated. If he becomes addicted to that, he said he took it to alleviate the problems of coming off cannabis, then I guess he will also turn to such desperate measures in order to feed his habit. Normally these drug mules are deeply in debt due to their own habits, by smuggling they can often wipe out the debt.

I loath all these drugs, my son has tried just about everything now, I am heartbroken. He was 27 yesterday.

It's sad when that happens Sue, and I know it has got to be hard. I'm still very young, 22, and I have never tried anything illegal. Mostly because I have seen some of what it can do since I have a lot of family members who have done drugs. My younger sister used to try stuff and show up at my house high. I told her that if she did it again I would beat her since Mama wasn't around to do it. She never showed up at my house like that again, but I know that after that she continued to use who knows what. Now, though, she doesn't use anything anymore and I'm glad because I was worried about her.
