It is one year since the terrible London Bombings. I have been watching the really moving tributes and the 2 minutes silence as it is shown on TV. It was such a terrible thing.

It does seem a wonderful tribute to those who lost their lives. I am well away from London, but it is horrible to think it can happen anywhere.

Had the 2 minute silence at work. Today my wife didn't want me to travel to work by train but I travel that way every day, so I'm not going to stop a little danger from stopping me. Of course this could be my excuse to buy a motorbike and travel that way (but that's not going to happen either)

I remember it well, exactly one week after my surgery and I have to admit to being relieved that it hadn't happened a week earlier as my surgeon was put 'on alert', he was then 'stood down' and didn't have to be involved. Had it happened a week earlier he might not have been able to operate on me. I spoke to him later that day and he said he had been very worried about his daughter as she would be in the vicinity, he was relieved when she checked in to say that she was safe.

I was terrible concerned as my friend's daughter was likely to have been in the area at the time, in actual fact it was one of those 'miracle' situations, she had missed her train - probably THE train. While she was waiting for the next train the message came up that all services were cancelled, so she went home again.

The big worry is that you have no idea if your family or friends are involved until you know they are safe. My son lives in London, I had no idea as to where he would have been at that time, it was worrying.
