I'm into another Charles de Lint novel. This time it's "Mulengro", a fantasy which deals which the Gypsy world. de Lint has quite an imagination and his books have always provided a great read.

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It's a novel with a interesting take on the Dracula Story, with a lot of vampire lore. Usually, I don't go in for vampire stuff, but this is well written and takes you all over Europe and has a lot of interesting history as well, which you might surmise from the title.
Just finished Huckleberry Finn. I thought I must have read it before, but I realized quickly than I hadn't.

I'm reading Bart Ehrman's 'Misquoting Jesus: Who Changed the Bible and Why' - fascinating (but not for fundamentalists, anyone who believes that scripture was dictated by God, or biblical inerrantists, believe me). I've also just finished re-reading 'Exodus' by Leon Uris - not the greatest book ever written and awfully one-sided, but interesting in light of what's going on in Israel at the moment. And just for fun, I've been going to be with Agatha Christie - nothing like a little crime before falling asleep.

Havers! I did it again - please put it down to heat and arthritis...that last sentence in my previous post should read 'And just for fun, I've been going to bed...etc."

Just last night I finished The Two Towers for the second time. Now I will start The Return of the King. I'm also in the middle of Inkheart by Cornelia Funke, and The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. And I have to read To Kill A Mockingbird for my English class, and highlight examples of various themes. I really should keep it down to 2 books at a time, but it's just so hard!

I've just started "Running With Scissors" ... has anyone read it? Being about child abuse it's not my normal kind of book but a couple of the quotes said about it being funny and hilarious ... bought it purely to see how they could combine the two. Am not in it long enough to give an opinion but I suspect I won't like it but it will be interesting.

Lol! I remember the feeling! I am trying very hard with Connie Willis' "To say Nothing of the Dog" I do not really like time travel stuff. I will say, though, that Sue sent me "The Time Traveller's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger and I really enjoyed it. Very cleverly researched and a good read.

I'm reading Ross King's fascinating "Brunnelleschi's Dome", about how Fillipo Brunelleschi, a Florentine goldsmith, constructed the dome of the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral without the usual methods. I'm also reading a book about Gustav Klimt's drawing and watercolors, Djuna Barnes' first novel "Ryder", an anthology of Charles Reznikoff's poetry, Michael Wex's "Born to Kvetch" and J. Edward Chamberlin's "Horse: How the Horse has shaped Civilization".

Finished Pet Semetary, wasn't overly impressed with it. Stephen King doesn't like the book because it is written from experience to an extent, he nearly lost his son on a busy road at a house they once lived on, so he doesn't like it as it brings up bad memories for him. Thought it was too long for what the actual content was, but each to their own. Finished the 2nd dark tower book the other day and now I'm about halfway through the 3rd one, The Waste Lands, they are really speeding up now and getting more interesting. I think I'm gonna be quite sad when I've finished reading them all! hehe

I finished The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and quite enjoyed it. It had many interesting characters and thoughtful sayings. I was worried that such a good beginning to the story would be ruined at the end, but the ending surprised me and was really well done.

Ok, so I'm still reading Return of the King. I've kind of taken a break on Inkspell, and I finished The Truth About Forever and To Kill A Mockingbird, which I got a 100% on btw. And now I've started The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman. It's great.

I'm reading Dan Brown's 'Deception Point'. I'm loving and loving to hate the characters so far.

I recently finished "Vanishing Acts" by Jodi Picoult. It helped make a 4 1/2 hour plane flight go by really fast! Before "Vanishing Acts", I read "Plain Truth", which is the novel that got me interested in Picoult's work. Next up is either "My Sister's Keeper" or "The Pact"...I haven't decided yet.
