Currently re-reading Judas Unchained by Peter F Hamilton, book 2 of the Commonwealth Saga. I know that Nights Dawn Trilogy was awesome, but I think these 2 books are a little better

Joanne Harris (Chocolat etc) "Gentlemen and Players" A real unputdowner, so many sinister undertones. She is brilliant, I think.

Sherlock Holmes, but not by Conan Doyle, this is by a different person, R Kirsh.

I am currently reading Terry Pratchett's 'Wintersmith' and I have also just started Stephen King's 'The Gunslinger', first in his Dark Tower series. Just getting into the latter and not quite sure of it yet! A work colleague assures me it will get better. I love Anne McCaffrey's Pern books, especially 'The White Dragon'. I'm a bit surprised there are not many mentions of David Eddings and 'The Belgariad', which are also particular favourites of mine. I could go on and on - but I won't!!

I'm reading John O'Hara's "Appointment In Samarra", Stendhal's "The Red and The Black" and Ovid's "Metamorphoses" at the moment.

I just finished 'Outlander' by Diane Gabaldon. I read it because of all the talk in the Forums about the series. I enjoyed it, but thought it went on a little much. There were just too many captures and daring rescues, if you ask me. I have no desire to rush out and buy the next book in the series, although I will likely read it at some point. It's an 800 page book that would have been fantastic as a 500 page book, IMHO.

Well I've recently been re-reading the Harry Potter books in order to refresh my memory as to what exactly happened, so I'm all geared up for the final book. Currently on Order of the Phoenix.

Hides head in shame, but I am well into Jeffrey Archer's False Impression. My daughter would be cross with me as she wouldn't approve, but he does write a ripping yarn.
I started reading it at about 2am this morning and didn't go to sleep until about 8am. I am now on page 375 and I think I might even finish it now before I get myself some dinner. I normally only read in bed.

I just finished Choke and am starting Haunted. both by Chuck Palahniuk.
He's a sick, sick man, but he's teaching me how to write.

Chuck Palahniuk is one of my favorite authors. I've read all of his novels, but haven't checked out any of his non-fiction. That first story in haunted is almost too disturbing for me, and I read "American Psycho" by Bret Easton Ellis without batting an eye. I'm currently reading "The Making of the Atomic Bomb" by Richard Rhodes. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in advanced sciences, like physics and chemistry, but hasn't been formally educated on the subject. People who have taken courses in those things might feel like there is alot of information in it they already know. I also just finished "Hannibal Rising" by Thomas Harris and was even more disappointed than I thought I'd be. You can tell that Thomas Harris isn't even trying anymore. He's just trying to slap something together to sell to the studios. The book's only a month old and I already saw commercials for the movie.

you really can't go wrong with any of his novels. Lullaby and Fight Club are probably my favorites with Haunted coming right behind those.

i heard that the fainting thing was a little blown out of proportion and that some of them may have even been plants for publicity for the book. who knows. the craziest thing is that he says the story guts is something that actually happened to someone he knows.

"A is for Alibi" by Sue Grafton
Well, I've also been reading the "Hershey's Fabulous Desserts" cookbook, but for educational purposes!
