Agreed Agony - I quite enjoyed the first few books but lost interest in them quite a while ago.

I am re-reading 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' because I feel in need of some escapism. Besides which, it will be out in theatres soon and I need some reminding!

I'm currently reading Lillian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who Went Bananas." Looks to be a good addition to the series.

"Arthur and George" by Julian Barnes. This is quite harrowing for an animal lover, but I am enjoying it , sort of. It is based on the characters of Arthur Conan Doyle and George Edalji, who is accused of a ghastly crime. It tells of Conan Doyle's role in the case. So interesting. He was an incredible character.

Currently reading "Anna Karenina" (Leo Tolstoy), and "Inheritance of Loss" (Kiran Desai?). Both are excellent, though I've had to put off Inheritance of Loss since I'm required to read about 35 pages of Anna Karenina a night (not that I mind-- it makes the subway ride mucn more interesting).

Reading a couple of things - "Choke" by Chuck Palaniuk (okay but I think I may be a bit too old, it strikes me as rather juvenile) and "Citizen Vince" by Jess Walter, which is quite a lot of fun - it's a thriller about a guy in the witness protection program, and someone is trying to kill him. The good part is, his new identity has a voter registration card, and he is spending about as much energy trying to decide who to vote for as he is in finding the killer. The cop is also great - a rookie who seems to be the only smart cop in the Spokane PD.

I've finally started reading Lord of the Rings and I'm wishing I hadn't seen the movies first! I'm also reading 'A short history of tractors in Ukranian' by Marina Lewycka which is pretty good so far.

I've just finished reading 'One Good Turn' by Kate Atkinson - absolutely wonderful - as is every other book by her that I have read including 'Case Histories' and 'Behind the Scenes at the Museum'. Highly recommended!

Sundaygirl, you will love "The Moonstone" - at least I did. My favorite character is the old butler, who references everything to his favorite book, "Robinson Crusoe".

I'm reading Food for the Dead by Michael Bell. It's about vampires in New England; I'm trying to get a quiz out of it.

I'm reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. It's a pretty good book although I'm only on page 50 at the moment. Don't you hate it when real life gets in the way of a good book?

I have just begun "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" by Susanna Clarke. It seems very unusual and interesting so far. Has anyone read this one?

I have just finished reading 'Wild Swans' by Jung Chang. It's about living under Communism in China, and a real eye opener! Thought it might be a bit 'heavy' but it got me hooked!
