I hear ya, Dave! We had a couple nice days, mid 80s, but it's back up to the high 90s again. Ugh. At least it's dry here, if it were humid I wouldn't be able to breathe.

Quite the opposite here, Dave - cold, wet and struggling to hit 10*c ... I'd swap you though!
Isn't it funny - every Summer I say to myself, I won't whinge about windter when it gets here, and in Winter I say "Can't wait for summer!" I think I want it Spring all year.
Taesma - are there bushfires near you? I caught the end of something about fires in California on the news a couple nights ago.

It's been pretty hot here, too, but not consistently. We'll get the odd day where it only goes to 25 or so, and then back up to 32 - 34 (just a minute, let me go and convert those to F for the Yanks) So, 25 is high '70's, and 32 is 90. Guess that's not so hot, when compared to Dave's temps. It's very dry here, so even when it gets really hot (40) it isn't really that painful. Nobody here has home air conditioning, though. My house is 100 years old, and the second floor gets so hot!

Yes, Copago, there was one close to here, but that's been put out. There are a couple more going, but the one you most likely heard about is in southern California, some 400 miles (740 km ?) or so from here. That one is huge, I guess two fires met and joined forces. Last I heard, it was something like 30,000 acres burned. (That was yesterday, don't know what's happening now. ) Happens every year, the most you can do I guess is just keep prepared. I don't live in an area that would likely be set ablaze (too urban) but I've known people who have lost houses.

There is a heat advisory here through Wednesday. They are predicting temps in the 105-110 degree range.

Oooh dear, now, that is warm. I would prefer the heat . Anyone who knows me knows that my trip to UK at Christmas was torture, but that is a bit too hot for me. We have it over 30 most days here . Lots of rain, strong monsoon warning and storms today. I would still rather that than ice and snow.

Out here in Massachusetts, we have been hitting 90 degrees for the past three days, with yesterday being the muggiest of them all.

Just returned from Texas on Thursday night, where it was 100 -102 F. all week. I drove back through Oklahoma, where [as the grinning trooper handed me a speeding cite through the window ] I had a chance to notice the giant red letters on the bank sign behind him said '104'. Off again at seven am yesterday to central Arkansas where my daughter and her buddy waited to be rescued from bandcamp...not even in the jungle have I experienced such evil humidity. Looking across the vast parking lot, I saw hundreds of wilted campers and their parents, heaving instrument cases and dirty laundry into the what ever vehicle they'd come in - almost panting to get a real breath of air. Then the long drive home. Ahh, summer. It will seem almost relaxing when school takes up again.

I have recently heard on the news that this is supposed to be one of the hottest years on record, and that we have already set records for July in our neck of the woods. Strange how perceptions are though, because in my mind last summer was definitely hotter than this one. Oh we have had our hot days indeed (it is currently 34 Celcius) but we have also had chilly days in between bouts of heat waves, where you actually turn the air conditioning off. I don't remember that happening last year at all.

If you ask me (which you didn't), plus or minus ten degrees here and there is not noticeable at all. It's like the shady part of hell vs. the sunny part of hell, you know? Hot and hotter . The only good thing about this swelter, in my opinion, is that my legs work better when the temperature stays the same. Never mind that it's too darned stuffy and uncomfortable to use them for anything much. Blech.

I've just driven about 1,700KM (~1060 miles) over the last 72 hours in temps in or around 40C (~104F). More than half that drive was done in one fell swoop today, and believe me I feel like I've been wrung through a mangle backwards, forwards and any which way. Can't wait to spend about an hour under a cool, cool shower....
Give me crisp, clear, cold autumn and winter weather any day. A good frost and a sharp breeze are great for clearing away the cobwebs.

We had our warmest reading of the year, so far. It officially reached 105°F (41°C), with our overnight low only getting to 85°F (29°C). Tomorrow is slated to be a carbon copy. Forecast high and low are 106°F and 85°F, respectively.

At least you are used to heat and are prepared for it with air conditioning, have pity on us poor Brits who are well equipped for rain and cold. Temperatures are expected to hit 37C which is 99F on Wednesday.

I just took my thermometer into the garden and it was 101 F out there and that was with a breeze. I am thinking of putting up a kiddies paddling pool and sitting in it!

Temperatures in the south of England have been around 100F recently and set to continue - or get even hotter. There's also a quite severe water shortage with bans on using hoses or garden sprinklers. I get annoyed by the TV weather forecasters invariably saying 'it's going to be another great day', or 'good weather set to continue', and such like idiotic phrases. Why doesn't someone tell these morons that 100F and above simply is not good weather! It's uncomfortable and even dangerous, and damaging to gardens, plants, wildlife and pets and livestock. My favourite days are below freezing winter days with blue skies and heavy frosts - 'Good to be alive days' I call them, and the idiot TV weather people can keep their 'great days' of sticky, uncomfortable heat!

I have one of those electronic barometers in front of me and it is showing clouds and rain are due, I believe it when I see it. The pressure has dropped by 4.
I like Spring best.

Would someone explain why , the year that I choose not to go home to Uk on holiday, it is sunny and hot. When I went at Christmas it was horrifically cold and there was snow. If I decided to go to UK now , the weather would immediately change for the worse I know it for sure.
