Has anybody seen the previews for this?
I almost got to work on it last March in Las Vegas...but it never came together. I'm just kicking myself that I didn't push harder. (I got a different film instead but I think this is one I'm gonna regret not being on.)
Mimi Leder, (Deep Impact) Directed. It has Keven Spacey (American Beauty), Helen Hunt (As Good As it Gets) and Haley Joel Osment (Sixth Sense) as the leads. Spacey (The Teacher of Osment) suggests a new way of helping people in his classroom. Paying it forward means:
#1 It has to be something that really helps people.
#2 Something they can't do by themselves.
#3 I do it for them, they do it for three other people.
These are the rules when you pay it forward
The Idea catches fire in Haleys mind. Things start happening expotentially! Inspiring!

It's an "I Can't wait to see it" film!

Hi Co!

I've been reading and seeing little bits about this one and I added it to my Fall Movie Must-See List that I write for myself and for the movie-club I manage within my Mom's group. It's in my top five of must-sees.

I´ve seen the previews for this and it looks interesting. Seeing the cast choice made me wonder if three Academy Award winners makes a good movie, though. I mean, if they have good chemistry then it should be a thumbs up..so I´m hoping for that. I like the concept of "paying it forward".

What I've heard thus far is that the actors make this movie worth seeing (no surprise there).

I think I'll be seeing it. Like I just said in the American Beauty post, I can't think of a bad movie that had Kevin Spacey in a major role.

Finally saw it. Loved it. A movie with great heart. Only two little qualms about the film...can't say more without "wrecking it" Basic Idea is great...see it!

I LOVED this movie! (I ran a sneak preview of it, saw it a couple weeks ago.) I really appreciated the character development of Spacey's character.

A bad movie with Kevin Spacey in a major role: "The Big Kahuna." That movie was really dull.

I haven't seen Pay It Forward yet, but I wanted to comment on sand's mention of The Big Kahuna. I just watched it Saturday night, and boy was I sorry! Kevin Spacey and Danny DeVito were both excellent in it, but the movie itself was just plain boring. I usually like films with plenty of character development, and I don't need car chases and loads of action to hold my attention, but this movie was really missing something. I was very disappointed.

Went and saw Pay It Forward last night. I don't know if I was expecting too much or not, but I didn't love it the way I thought I would.

First of all....Helen Hunt CANNOT pull off dumb, uneducated, etc. She is just too smart and her eyes, facial expressions, and way of speaking are too refined and intelligent. I could not accept her as a bleach blonde, "trailer trash", etc. She did a great job in her scenes with the other actors as far her heart and pain and struggle with the alcohol, but too many times I was distracted by the fact that she was Helen Hunt. Ya know what I mean?

Haley Joel Osment is a better actor at 12 than the majority of grown men who are acting today. The kid is just so good. He looks like he is filled with years of pain and heartache and struggle. He gets to me especially because there is something about him that reminds me of my oldest daughter. Some thing about his nose and freckles and those deep, sad eyes. Half the time I feel like his mother and he just rips my heart out!

Then there is my man Kevin...(and yes he is MY man--LOL). Kevin can do no wrong. Kevin is the acting god. Kevin is the coolest, smartest, and smarmiest guy going and I could eat him up like an ice cream cone. As usual he is just superb in this movie. Very subtle and paced. His character develops slowly and interestingly. His performance was flawless.

The story moved a little slowly in some parts and they nearly wasted the sublime Jay Mohr. The ending is very abrupt and was not what I expected at all. I did cry my eyes out in two different places during the story line. Always like a movie that makes me cry for the right reasons!

I guess out of ten stars I would give it seven. Mostly for the acting....the story left quite a bit to be desired.

Hungree - What about the "Pay it Fowrard" concept. That's what go me there in the first place...I just thought "The Possibilities". Also, what about James Chavelle's(sp?) performance?

And Kevin is excellent...he's also the second best Christopher Walken impressionist around. He did a killer Saturday Night Live skit as Walken doing a screen test as Han Solo as well as a great impromtu bit on "The Actor's Studio".

The Number 1 impressionist? Also in the film: Jay Mohr. Being on the set must have been a riot...I can just imagine "Dueling Walken's"!

I am so with you on the whole SNL episode! That was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I agree the possiblity of the pay it forward concept is great...but I guess I'm just an old cynic sometimes and I don't have a whole lot of faith in my fellow man. I am like Trevor...I just think people wouldn't do it. Sad, huh?

Jim Cavaziel (sp?) did a great job. He has a terrific face, don't you think? Looks so weathered and worn. My husband really liked the Thin Red Line and he is in that too. I haven't watched it yet. We have it on tape, but I never seem to want to see it.
