I have bought several things on eBay including a Saxophone (which was brand new from one of the eBay shops) and I can't complain at all. Delivery was fast and no problems with payment. I have been outbid literally at the last second before now which was very annoying!

That song was hysterical! I shall be sending that to a friend who loves to buy on Ebay!

I can't view that listing Roos.

The other day I received a damaged parcel. Not the fault of the seller, the envelope was damaged in the post, somehow getting VERY wet on one end. The envelope was really sturdy with cardboard reinforcing it, which acted as a sponge!

There is little point in claiming from the post office, the amount was small and it wasn't worth the hassle.

The goods were craft supplies, thin card. I put it under a heavy plastic weight and let it dry out, it seems not to have dried all wavy.

My wet package

I gave the sender positive feedback, they were in no way to blame. When contacting her about the damage I suggested putting paper in a polythene bag another time.

She seems to be a very nice lady.

eBay has removed the listing sadly Sue. It was regarding little Madeleine McCann.

Ah, poor kid, poor family. I notice they have a scrolling bar about her on the Scrabble game I play.

I use to add a bid at the beginning and E-Bay bidded on my behalf but with so many people jumping in at the last moment and snatching the bid from under me-I tend to bid at the end now too

Yep, all about sneaking that final bid in with 4 seconds left or so. I have pulled that off but also got burned by that strategy too. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

I listed a baby monitor 3 days ago for $80- and was expecting to get about $90- plus postage for it. I had a newbie bid fairly early in the peace and was delighted when another person bid with more than a day to go. Bids do get other people watching and interested.

At 7 minutes to go I happened to be online and noticed the short time left so I went to the listing in my sellers page and saw that there were 12 people watching! Woohoo I thought (too much Simpsons) this will be interesting. At 5 minutes till end time more people started bidding and I was yelling out the bids to Lily in the other room like an auctioneer!

In the end there were 12 bids on the monitor and it went for $132.50,plus postage. I`m pretty happy with that result as is Lily. Any thoughts I had of just buying more stuff with the money vanished though as fast as you can say "good I`m glad you got a good price, it`s your shout for a nice dinner then". Evidently I have to pay for dinner this weekend.

The above is the good news, well except for the dinner part. The bad news is that eBay wont let me list that wretched Nazi buckle and belt I wanted to sell. I understand the reasons but, well it would have been valued by a collector as a historical item.

Did you managed to sell your old shoes?

There is a lot of German war memorabilia in this island although I don't know about nazi stuff. There used to be a shop selling the stuff but it has closed or moved.

Would it be worth trying oztion? or same rules? Or perhaps you'd want it to be in a worldwide thing?

Sue with the reply I sent to the questioner and watcher I would have been surprised if they still wanted those old shoes. It was a test auction to get a feel of the procedures but that person did have me worried for a while. I have noticed similar belts up for auction on the US eBay but I don`t want to get slapped or worse by eBay at this stage of my selling career.

Yes Jill I have searched through Oztions list of prohibited items and there is nothing there to concern me, but as you said I did want to sell to a worldwide market and Oztion is just too limited at this point in time. I still may try Oztion but at a higher starting price.

One of the two sold which was good. I guess this means I'm a professional crafter now?

I almost got caught just now! I put a bid on an iris folding 160 patterns CD and was outbid and was about to bid again then thought to check the seller's other items and found the same CD on By It Now for 20p less than the current highest bid. Guess who has bought it now.

I've seen similar things - there was this little craft knife thing that a quick search could be found for $2.95 but an auction for it, from a different seller, had it up to $17!!!! I messaged the seller and said she must be happy with that and she replied saying no because the buyer will probably blame her for ripping her off

It must happen often. I once got caught up in a frenzy of bidding for a craft ruler and missed out. I then looked and found it cheaper as a BIN so bought it. I then got an email saying the other person had dropped out and did I still want to buy the one I bid on - well no thank you, I bought it cheaper.

I absolutely love that song. it gets a bit old after you've heard it 50 or so times though.

As for Ebaying, I bought my flute on ebay for about $80 including postage. Seeing as flutes are generally about $800 I was very happy.

I steer away from buying clothes on Ebay as there is a big chance it wont fit me. I will fit into some things size 10 but others will be way too big or small.

My mum bought an absolutely georgeous ring for 99 cents. No one was bidding on it and she found it at the last minute. It fit her perfectly as well.

I have just had a panic attack! Well not quite but I wondered what the heck was on a CD which just arrived. There was no sender's details on the envelope and inside it with the CD was a note which said...

"A big thank you to all you good honest ebayers, your purchase means a lot to us. Now for the serious bit (in red), These CDs must not be copied and sold on ebay. This would violate intellectual property rights. Please read ebays verified owner (VERO) programme for details.

Still no name of seller or address, completely anonymous. Then I looked at the CD and the image was just a pleasant oriental painting and some oriental words and in English it said "SOME ADULT IMAGES" hence my panic. Whaaaat?! I was scared to put it into my computer in case I was was going to be viewing pornography! I looked at some photos and they appear to be oriental art, the normal thing one expects - but with thousands of images I might just get some surprises yet.

This is a link to a copy of the CD front.
