That was my understanding, hence the name of the tasty flakey pastry product which is crescent shaped.

Yes I kind of assumed it would get its name from the shape.
We discussed it at breakfast and I suggested that if it were the million dollar question on millionare i'd be confident picking crescent as the meaning.
