I do believe we have a winner!

hehe - I like the next line when the two look at each other and say along the lines of "We're going to get lynched, aren't we?"

Must go dig the book out and see how it really goes.

I like this one, myself. It's from something I've just finished reading for the eighth time in about a month.

"Do you think that children in China are digging to America?" - Jin-Ho

'The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.'

This is the opening line of L.P. Hartley's 'The Go-Between', and although it might sound obvious, it contains the often-ignored key to understanding history, even recent history, succinctly and elegantly put.

From Orwell`s "1984".

'Under the spreading chestnut tree
I sold you and you sold me --'
.

The line was taken and changed from The Village Blacksmith by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

I have always been partial to this line by Douglas Adams in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

"In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move."

I also like this line by J. K. Rowling.

"Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure." -Rowena Ravenclaw

"Never play cards with a man called Doc. Never eat at a place called Mom's. Never sleep with a woman whose troubles are worse than your own. Never let nobody talk you into shaking another man's jolt. And never you cop another man's plea." From Nelson Algren's "A Walk On The Wild Side". Ross MacDonald paraphrased the third sentence in his "Black Money".

I'm having problems settling on just one quote, there are a few to chose from:

"DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING, said Death. JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH."
(Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett: Good Omens)

"Many people, meeting Aziraphale for the first time, formed three impressions: that he was English, that he was intelligent, and that he was gayer than a tree full of monkeys on nitrous oxide."
(also Good Omens)

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."
Oscar Wilde, Lady Wintermere's Fan

Some Twilight quotes are the best:

unfortunately, most of my favorites have spoilers. So I will settle for a quote from Eclipse.

"So, did you want to hear about Sam, or did you want to scream at me some more for things that are out of my control?"

~Jacob to Bella

And more of Jacob's quotes from New Moon are also good, but also have spoilers.
