I'm moving Annie's post from the other thread over here..... posted 12-05-2000 05:17 PM----------------- That's a great story, Cohalen. Home Depot is probably the last place I'd expect to run into someone like Fabio, too! I loved the clothing description.....who else but Fabio would wear a silk shirt to that place? I know when my hubby and I go shopping there, I don't exactly dress for success, but then I'm not a model/actor/celebrity, or whatever the hell he is. I don't mean to be nasty. He probably is a very nice man. Thanks for telling us about your brush with fame. So, my question is: Who was the first person to be nominated for an Oscar in the same year, in both the leading and supporting categories? (They didn't win either of them.)

Bueller here! I'm Gonna guess Jessica Lange (The year she was up for both Francis and Tootsie) Probably wrong, probably somebody earlier. But if it keeps this thing movin' I'll give it a shot! ------------------ Aren't we forgeting the true meaning of Christmas? You know, the birth of Santa. - Bartholomew 'Bart' Jo-Jo Simpson

Hi Cohalen! I was afraid you had deserted me, and you probably will when I tell you how I screwed up this last question! It should have read: Who was the first person to be nominated for an Oscar in the same year, in both the leading and supporting categories, without winning either of them? There were others who achieved this feat before the person in my question, including Jessica Lange, but they all won for the supporting role. I'm looking for the first person nominated, who lost in both categories. (FYI: In 1938, Fay Bainter was the first ever to receive dual nominations--She was nominated as Best Actress for a film called White Banners (never heard of it!) and as Best Supporting Actress for Jezebel, which she won. I'm really sorry about the confusion. I promise to proofread my questions more carefully in the future. I hope this doesn't mean I'm not the "gorilla" your dreams anymore. (That's a hint for you. )

You got it, chessart! For the 1988 Academy Awards, Sigourney Weaver was nominated for Best Actress for Gorillas in the Mist, and for Best Supporting Actress for Working Girl. Unlike the previous dual nominees who took home the supporting prize, poor Sigourney didn't win anything. The winner of the Best Actress award that year was Jodie Foster for The Accused and the Best Supporting Actress was Geena Davis for The Accidental Tourist. Good job, chessart. Now it's your turn to give us a question.

Okay here goes..... Name the actress that ties together all of these actors via different movies she co-starred in with them. The actors are: Charlie Sheen, Sean Astin, Cory Feldman, Cory Haim, and Josh Brolin. This should be very easy! Have at it! ------------------ Visit my Message board and join the discussion! Hey guys, Is this so easy that you are too insulted to answer it? Everyone losing interest in our game? Holiday shopping keeping you to busy for on-line games? Cohalen? Annie? Bueller? Anyone? ------------------ Visit my Message board and join the discussion! Go to www.pub41.ezboard.com/bdramaorama

Bueller Here! After an exhaustive search it turns out to be Kerri Green (whoever she is...Can't place her) Goonies & Lucas fit the requirements. Speaking of Bueller...What actress has appeared with Charlie Sheen, Jerry Orbach, Kevin Costner, Ben Affleck & Mathew Modine?

Very Good Bueller! The other movie you could link her with Charlie Sheen (twice) is Three For the Road. Kerri was on a real roll in the 80's....she was in a hand full of teeny-bopper movies and then she just kind of disappeared. I have no idea why. Without attempting a search I'm going to venture a guess on your question....is it Jennifer Grey? I know for sure she starred with everyone on the list.... Jerry Orbach...Dirty Dancing Matthew Broderick and Charlie Sheen.....Ferris Bueller's Day Off Kevin Costner....Radio Flyers (I think that's the name of it) Ben Affleck....Bounce Matthew Modine....Wind How'd I do Co? I did it all from memory!

Damn, you're good! (The Costner film was "American" Flyers...Though Radio Flyer was good in it's own right) I Did all I could NOT to mention Patrick Swayze! (who, along with Charlie Sheen, shares the distinction of being in movies with her twice - Red Dawn, her debut!) Heck I thought "Bueller" was a giveaway! LOL (Myself, I'd have missed Modine & Affleck!) ------------------ Sheriff of Nottingham: Wait a minute. Thanks Co! I only got Bounce because I just saw it a couple of weeks ago. I actually had to think for a minute to come up with the link to Costner. I finally remembered...but I wasn't sure about the title! Okay....talk about a girl who gets around....this overworked girl has shared credits with a whole sleu of actors....just some of which are: Ben Affleck, William H. Macy, Robert De Niro, Hank Azaria, Joaquin Phoenix, Ethan Hawke Paul Reiser, Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Greg Kinnear, Ray Liotta, Casey Affleck, Ben Chaplin, Peter Berg, Matt Damon, Jason Lee, and last but not least....Michael Rappaport. This list could have been another thirty names longer...but I thought this was more than enough. Can you name the woman? ------------------ Visit my Message board and join the discussion! Hi hungree.......is it Janeane Garofolo? I've been taking it easy for the past few days, because I had major surgery on my gums the other day. Don't ask! It was pretty brutal, but my vicodin seems to have kicked in, so I thought I'd answer your question.

I'm hangin' in, hungree. I feel a little better with each passing day. Thanks for asking! Here's my question: Michael Keaton played the same character in two films based on novels by Elmore Leonard. Name the character and the two films.

Michael played Ray Nicolette in Jackie Brown & Out of Sight! ------------------ Ebenezer Blackadder: I trust Christmas brings to you its traditional mix of good food and violent stomach cramp. - Blackadder's Christmas Carol (1988) (TV) [This message has been edited by Cohalen (edited 12-19-2000).]

Actually...I had to look it up. I knew Out of Sight was an Elmore Leonard novel. and I knew Michaek Keaton played (uncredited) in it. I never saw Jackie Brown. Good Question! Hopefully this will be, too! Here's a Christmas Present. (Or a Ghost of one, at least!) This actor was Shot for his role as a comanding leader in a Boar-ish war; was a Confinded Constible in a Wicker Basket; But every thing Equilizes out: He got to play Merlin! ------------------ Peter Watts: You know, that for almost the entire history of Western civilization this month has been a holy time. The Druids, winter solstice, Hannakah, the Romans converted Saternali into Christmas. Imagine that, Christ wasn't even born on this day. Maybe not even ninteen hundred ninety-seven years ago. So no one knows for sure when the millennium really begins. And how much time is left. - "Millennium" (1996)

This film remained unseen from 1930 until 1974 due to copyright probelms with MCA/Universal, the studio which now owns the rights to the film, and the producer, Paramount Pictures. Film students supported this man in a campaign to have the film re-released, which it finally was -- to a prime-time TV audience.
