That's a great story, Cohalen. Home Depot is probably the last place I'd expect to run into someone like Fabio, too! I loved the clothing description.....who else but Fabio would wear a silk shirt to that place? I know when my hubby and I go shopping there, I don't exactly dress for success, but then I'm not a model/actor/celebrity, or whatever the hell he is. I don't mean to be nasty. He probably is a very nice man. Thanks for telling us about your brush with fame.

Hi Cohalen! I was afraid you had deserted me, and you probably will when I tell you how I screwed up this last question! It should have read:

Who was the first person to be nominated for an Oscar in the same year, in both the leading and supporting categories, without winning either of them?

There were others who achieved this feat before the person in my question, including Jessica Lange, but they all won for the supporting role. I'm looking for the first person nominated, who lost in both categories. (FYI: In 1938, Fay Bainter was the first ever to receive dual nominations--She was nominated as Best Actress for a film called White Banners (never heard of it!) and as Best Supporting Actress for Jezebel, which she won.

I'm really sorry about the confusion. I promise to proofread my questions more carefully in the future. I hope this doesn't mean I'm not the "gorilla" your dreams anymore. (That's a hint for you. )

You got it, chessart! For the 1988 Academy Awards, Sigourney Weaver was nominated for Best Actress for Gorillas in the Mist, and for Best Supporting Actress for Working Girl. Unlike the previous dual nominees who took home the supporting prize, poor Sigourney didn't win anything. The winner of the Best Actress award that year was Jodie Foster for The Accused and the Best Supporting Actress was Geena Davis for The Accidental Tourist.

Very Good Bueller! The other movie you could link her with Charlie Sheen (twice) is Three For the Road. Kerri was on a real roll in the 80's....she was in a hand full of teeny-bopper movies and then she just kind of disappeared. I have no idea why.

Thanks Co! I only got Bounce because I just saw it a couple of weeks ago. I actually had to think for a minute to come up with the link to Costner. I finally remembered...but I wasn't sure about the title!

Actually...I had to look it up. I knew Out of Sight was an Elmore Leonard novel. and I knew Michaek Keaton played (uncredited) in it. I never saw Jackie Brown. Good Question!
