I'll take a guess at the film being "Death Wish"

I'm Drawin' a blank too. I'm thinking of all the Movies held up in ownership squabbles that I can think of: Hard Days Night; Heavy Metal; Rocky Horror Picture Show...but they're all too recent. Then I' thinking of 30's movies and I think of John Huston war movies that were held from the public...but that was still after 1930 and the "studio" was the US Army, not MGM (Though there might not have been much difference at the time). Then I thought of Fritz Lang's Metropolus or Leni Reifenstahl...but those films were seen before 1974. And I don't get the Rittenhouse reference.
Tuff one

Okay, I'm going to make a wild guess, only because I don't know any of the history on this movie. Does "Rittenhouse" refer to Rittenhouse Manor in Animal Crackers starring the Marx Brothers? If so, then that's my guess.

You got it Annie!! Mrs. Rittenhouse was played by Margaret Dumont. I found that tidbit of trivia on the IMDB.

I never would have gotten it without the Rittenhouse reference, Partsdude, and even that had me stumped until I visited our knowledgeable friend, the IMDB! This was a tough question, but a good one.

Since we're only a few days away from Christmas, my question is appropriately themed:

In The Thin Man, what was the Christmas gift given to Asta by Nick (William Powell) and Nora (Myrna Loy) Charles?

Hey Annie I think it was a little toy fire hydrant. Isn't the first Thin Man one of the greatest movies? Just love it.

I'll wait to see if I got it correct before posting a new question.

You got it, hungree....it was a miniature fire hydrant. You won't get any argument from me on this one. I love William Powell and Myrna Loy, and I love this movie!!!! They just don't make 'em like this anymore. Merry Christmas, by the way.

And the next question is...........?

This actor/director hasn't been seen too much lately, but hopefully he'll grace us with lots of screen time in 2001.

He has played a famous mobster, a smarmy-prettyboy rapist, a professional killer, a junkie, one of the most famous painters in history, and on more than one occasion...a cop.

This is one of my absolute favorite actors to watch...can you guess who he is?

I know Kevin Spacey is a favorite of your's but I can't recall a world famous Painter he played. And I thought of Antonio Bandaras but don't recall him playing that many cops Or protraying a painter. Nick Nolte certainly fit's the bill (He was a Fictional world famous painter in New York Stories...but I don't recall anything he's directed. I thought of Penn as well...but again, the Painter.
So...yeah...I think a hint might be a good thing...otherwise, me may not get this before the next millenium!

Partsdude got it!!! It was Tim Roth....

Played Dutch Schultz in Hoodlum

Played Van Gogh in Vincent and Theo

Played a cop in Reservoir Dogs and The Deceivers

Played a junkie who couldn't get into rehab in Gridlock'd and was more than likely a junkie in Pulp Fiction, tho they never say absolutely....

Played the smarmy pretty-boy rapist in Rob Roy.

Played the professional killer just out of prison in Little Odessa.

I can never get enough of watching him in movies. He has this innocent quality underneath a complex and moody surface. I love his eyes and his nose and the way he talks and carries himself.

I've read that one of the reasons we haven't seen so much of him in the last year or two is because he might have a bit of a drinking problem. He also took time off from acting to direct his first feature...The War Zone which was well received by critics.

According to the IMDB I can look forward to at least two movies he'll appear in this year. I've also heard that he is most likely going to appear in the first Harry Potter movie that is being made....he'd make a terrific Severus Snape!!!!!

Okay Partsdude....lay one on us!

Here's another one-

What movie is this statement talking about?

Images of Abraham Lincoln are everywhere (busts, paintings, portraits), alluding to the assassination. In reality, JFK was shot soon after the film was released, and the movie was pulled from circulation for several years out of sensitivity.

I wont be able to confirm if the answers are correct or not until Tuesday. Have a great and Happy New Year!!
