Colin Thiele, author of "Storm Boy" and other Australian classics died yesterday. Sydney Morning Herald

Perhaps this was overshadowed with the death of Steve Irwin but I think it's important to recognise the importance of Thiele's work to Australia too.

Oh Copago, I am really sorry to hear this news. I am sure it would have been big news, had it not been for the death of Steve Irwin.

When I was a child, I read his books. I particularly liked "Sun on the Stubble" (even though we were forced to read it at school) and read it many times.

"Sun on the Stubble" was great but "Sorm boy" will always be my favourite. I can still shed a tear reading the book or watching the movie.

I agree with Copago, Storm Boy was my favourite too . . . such a poignant story! Sad to hear he has gone, a fine Aussie author!

Mr Percival was a favourite of mine in primary school, too. The film starring David Gulpilil brought back some memories.

An important part of Aussie literature has gone...
