IT SAYS I SHOULD INTRODUCE MYSELF, SO HERE GOES, MY NAME IS NATALIE, I'M 30SOMETHING AND I'M FROM HALIFAX, WEST YORKSHIRE IN ENGLAND. I RUN A COUPLE OF OFF LICENCES AND DRINK AWAY THE MAJORITY OF THE PROFITS! I'VE MANAGED TO GET THIS FAR IN LIFE WITH NO RUGRATS HANGING OFF MY ANKLES, AND INTEND TO KEEP IT THAT WAY (GOD WILLING). I HAVE A LOT OF INTERESTS BUT NOT A LOT OF TIME SO MOST OF THE THINGS I'D LIKE TO DO JUST STAY ON MY WISH LIST AND I GO TO THE PUB AND BEMOAN MY FATE!!(OR DANCE HALF NAKED ON THE BAR). I HAVE A COUPLE OF CATS CALLED 'OY' AND 'YOU', WHO DO THEIR LEVEL BEST TO DRIVE ME NUTS. AND, IN A NUTSHELL, THATS ME.

Welcome Mordsithraina, though I haven't been on a ship for about 30 years! I have been to Yorkshire a few times though and was quite impressed (apart from Hull  ). Enjoy the forums.

Thanks all for the warm welcome. Sorry about the 'shouting', I keep getting told I'm far too loud!! sue943 they have just built a load of houses on the old infirmary site, but as the mortuary is a listed building they couldn't tear it down and have converted it into a cottage!!!

Oh dear, it is bad enough that they pulled down the house in which I used to live, but the hospital in which I was born, that is too much.  I can remember going to stay in Amblerthorn (?) when I was about thirteen.

Amblerthorn village is stll going strong, just between Halifax and Queensbury, but Ambler ward at the old infirmary was closed in 1988 or 89

It is the village I meant, not in the hospital. My mother had friends who lived there, Windy Ridge rings a bell.
