List 10 movies that left you feeling betrayed and jipped and pining away for the two hours of your life you just wasted? Here are mine: Blair Witch Project-the only scary thing about this piece of overhyped crap is the amount of money I wasted to see it. Indian Summer-Never heard of it? There's a reason for that. Hannibal-so far removed from Silence of the Lambs it may as well be a different movie altogether. Pointless. Rocky V-they should've stopped after II, but at least III and IV were somewhat entertaining. V is a real stinker. Psycho(the new one)-I can't believe they thought they could do justice to the original. Falls WAAAAAAAAAY short. The Godfather Part III-shouldn't be allowed to associate itself with I or II. Eyes Wide Shut-huh? Krippendorf's Tribe-Richard Dreyfus, what were you thinking??? Speed 2-just plain bad. Halloween III-hmmm, a Halloween movie with no Michael Meyers? Sure!! Can't miss!!

Totally agree with you on the Blair Witch Project Aragorn! Let's see, also: Last of the Mohicans Watchers (crappy movie out of an awesome book) Godzilla (the lastest one) Blade American Beauty (Just goes to show you that Oscars don't make good movies) American Psycho X-Men (actually, I'd rate this one "so-so") Starship Troopers Cartoon version of Red Planet (made for TV movie... they butchered it) Well I could rant for hours, but someone else needs the computer.. so I gotta run! BTW Aragorn... how do you think the new Lord of the Rings movie coming out will hold up?

Here are the 10 worst movies I have ever seen I know there are more, but these all but cured my insomnia. 10-September (The month goes faster) 9 Barfly 8 The Sicilian 7 2001 A Space Odyssey 6 The Shining (To bad Kubrick didn't bother to read the book) 5 Texasville (The sequel to the brillant Last Picture Show they shouldn't have bothered.) 4 Out Of Africa (Zzzzzzz) 3 Reds ( Who Cares) 2 Barry Lyndon ( Kubrick has made my list three times he's my favorite director of over-rated garbage) 1 Last Tango In Paris ( No explanation is possible) [ 04-12-2001: Message edited by: oscar820 ]

All of the Planet of the Apes movies (EXCEPT the first, of course. Sure hope Wahlberg does a good job in the remake)

I'm with you guys on Blair Witch. Ugh. I didn't like American Beauty but I wouldn't list it on my worst list. Eyes Wide Shut The Talented Mr. Ripley The English Patient The Thin Red Line Dungeons and Dragons (I think it's bad when I laughed hysterically when one of the main characters died!) Girl, Interrupted Muriel's Wedding High Fidelity (hrmph?) If Lucy Fell (I've never hated a character more than Sarah Jessica Parker's in that movie.) I know there is a bunch more but I've blocked them out. [ 04-12-2001: Message edited by: originalcallie ]

Lady, I am VERY fired up for the Trilogy. From the previews I've seen and articles I've read, I think it will be awesome. I think the director, Peter Jackson, is excellent and has a lot of respect for the Trilogy. He'll likely stay very true to the books. I also think the cast is solid. Granted, I would love to see Sean Connery as Gandalf, but Ian McKellen ain't too shabby himself!! Throw in some incredible digital effects and you've got a formula for success. The only thing that concerns me is: Will it be possible for me to enjoy the films without comparing every little nuance to the books? I have a tendency to be overly critical of movies based on books I've read. I have my own vision of the Lord of the Rings, my own vision of Middle Earth. Will I be able to reconcile Jackson's visions with my own? So, I'm very excited, but a little wary. I've waited so long for the Lord of the Rings to be made into a major motion picture that I'm a little nervous now that it's happening.

I'm with OC on Thin Red Line... Only around our house we refer to it as Thin Red Plot.

I think that's a question that is on a lot of people's mind... here's how to tell! 1a) Are you the creator of any LOTR quizzes? 1b) Are they rated anywhere between Difficult and Impossible? 2) Are there any LOTR quizzes in QL that you haven't played? 3) Do you frequently correct other people's LOTR quizzes? If you answered "yes" to any of these, (or "no" to Q2), then be prepared for the worst *G*

I don't really keep track of all of the movies I hate, so I don't have a top ten list. I will tell you that the worst movie I have ever seen is "The Blair Witch Project," and a very close second place is "Gladiator."

I liked American Beauty. That movie makes me cry. Here are some of the worst: ~Event Horizon...couldn't even finish it, it was so bad. ~Mission to Mars...stank. Very disappointing, and didn't even attempt to be scientifically accurate as far as I can tell. ~The Big Kahuna...would've been alright had I seen the play version, but the movie was really boring. ~The English Patient...Can't believe I wasted so much time watching a movie in which I didn't care about the characters. ~Krippendorf's Tribe...was also pretty bad. ~Multiplicity...boring. ~The first Professor Klump movie...I can't even remember the name, which is evidence of how I hated it. I also heard "Unbreakable" was a big disappointment, so I'll probably skip that one.

Here are mine: 10)Batman Forever and Batman & Robin (They should have stopped after Batman Returns) 9)Supernova (Such a Shitty Movie) 8)Election (It was a movie about his affair with this other woman and him trying to stop this girl to win school president.) 7)Any Jim Carrey Movie except Me, Myself and Irene 6)Any Given Sunday (I HATE FOOTBALL AND THE PLOT OF THAT MOVIE) 5)U-571 (cuz Jon Bon Jovi was in it, what a fag) 4)Thin Red Line or any War movies like that. (The only good war movie was Saving Private Ryan) 3)Amadeus (Way too long for a movie on Wolfgang Amadeus Motzart.) 2)Mission Impossible 2 (It didn't make any sense) And the worst movie I ever saw was: 1)The Exorcist (It did not even scare me ONE BIT. How could people think that was the scariest movie of all time. I have seen it like 6 or 7 time, Regan was a dummy most of the time, the voice was dubbed by another person, the spider walk was done by a contortionist and Entertainment Weekly said this movie would mess you up and give you nightmares for weeks. Apart from that not scarring me it was an okay movie they needed to shorten it by taking out the parts with Father Karas and his mother in the hospital and stuff like that.)

For me, Meet the Parents was just another same, tired, predictable, look-at-what-a-loveable-clutz-I-am, Ben Stiller vehicle. We get it already Ben... move on... try expanding your charachter. The absolute WORST movie I've ever seen was some flick called "Appointment with Fear." It was back in the 80s. I don't even remember what it was about. My only lasting memory of that film was a young woman about three rows in front of me standing up two-thirds of the way through, turning and asking the entire theater "Does anyone understand what the hell is going on here?" Not a single person said yes.

I loved Duece Bigelow!! That's one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time! I also thought X-Men was pretty good, but I could see how some people could think otherwise. I liked it a lot because it was actually pretty good sci fi!!

(Reply to CalleroftheKtulu) 10) Batman Forever kicked all the other Batman movies butts. 9) never heard of the movie...no comment 8) " 7) I like most Jim Carrey movies, except The Truman Show and The Cable Guy 6) I totally agree with you on football movies 5) I haven't seen it 4) I haven't seen Saving Private Ryan, but I haven't heard anything good about it, either. War movies generally suck, though. 3) Amadeus was a TERRIFIC movie about the life of the greatest genius ever to live. 2) Never saw it 1) Never saw it... but the book was terribly written. I'd also like to comment that I thoroughly enjoyed "Meet the Parents" but it was probably more due to circumstance than to the actual movie itself My boyfriend took me to see it at this AMAZING theatre in Toronto the weekend right before he met my parents!!
I think, to be fair, though, I'd have to say that although there are many movies I don't like (see post above ) there are parts of any movie that I like.

wow... I'm amazed about the comments concerning Saving Private Ryan. Sure, it was graphic, bloody and one of the most disturbing movies ever filmed, but it's supposed to be that way. I have heard MANY veterans say that SPR is as close to actual war as you can get without wearing fatigues. War isn't pretty. War SHOULD be disturbing. I think EVERY person on the planet should see that film, if only for the education on the horrors of war.

Hi Jim, I also hated "Titanic" because it was too long and too involved with 2 characters. (I would've liked to have been introduced to a few more people.) Also too much running around in cold water with the lights flashing on and off--give me a break!! The bright spot was Kathy Bates. I was in high school when this movie came out, and I was a bit alienated from all those who loved the movie. Sand

I liked "Titanic," although I think they could have done better with the dialogue! I read somewhere that "Rose" says "Jack"'s name something like 147 times throughout the movie. Usually it was, "Jack, no!" or "Jack, I couldn't possibly!!" ugh! But at the same time, the movie gave an excellent depiction of class prejudices of the period. I cry every time I see the part where the "steerage" passengers were kept locked down below until "first class" had finished loading the lifeboats. That part is entirely true! I know some people got really upset with the writers: "How can you make a love story out of something so tragic??" "Gone With the Wind" is a work of historical fiction, too, and it's considered a classic. I thought "Titanic" was a beautiful story (much as I dislike Leonardo DiCaprio).

Happy to see I'm not the only one who HATED "The Gladiator"! What a dull, wooden, unimaginative, gory, poorly produced film that was! "Rocky" in sandals was the way I thought of it. And--I know a lot of people loved "Titanic"--but I couldn't bring myself to see it--who wants to watch a lot of people drown/freeze to death? Maybe I'm missing something, but I do enjoy a film which gives me some laughter/inspiration/insight. "Titanic" seems like very, very old news. Finally, "Blair Witch" ranks right up there with the world's biggest rip-offs! A lot of jerky camera work, horrendously poor dialogue and a completely unoriginal ending....this movie is surpassed only by the sequel...which, it seems, NOBODY saw!
