Well that's weird... I just voted and I got a message that someone with this IP address has already voted. Hmmmm, maybe my wife or son are sneaking on this site?? This makes no sense. Anyway, I voted American...

Count me in as a Brit (Brummie by birth). Although I lived in Canada for many more years than I did in England, so maybe I should be a Canuck. Hmm, but I'm living in Central America, so am I 'rest of the world'? Passport says I'm Brit ~ that settles it~

I prefer to think of myself as English rather than British.

Well it was a lighthearted poll and I would have received complaints had I put English then left out Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Italian.
Anyway, that's not fair! I'd like to see how many Italians are there in FunTrivia!
I suppose not too much!

As you will see from the initial post, this was just a light-hearted poll, it isn't intended to be taken seriously.

It isn't possible in the forums to say how many members are from which country. The US, UK, Canada and Australia are named as the bulk of the members live in one of those countries as they are all (supposedly) English-speaking countries and this site is in English.

I was joking! Don't worry.
Anyway, thanks for the answer .

Phew, thank goodness. Could you imagine the problems if I tried to list each country in the world for a poll!

Ciao Darkandre.

There are several Italians who write quizzes including Zordy and a few other authors. I don't believe they participate in the forums however.

I'm someone who lived on the border for years and got to do my grocery shopping there each week and my daughter just got back from an eight month long stay at Padova. We have cousins there on both sides of our family. Now we're having all the Italians visit California after her stay over there.

I looked at one of those page rating sites recently and it listed the nationalities present on FT. I'm not sure if they didn't use this thread! I think it was Alexa.com.

I think some sites may use one of those scroll down menus for the nationality thing when people sign on though.

Darkandre, welcome to the site.

Thank you very much for your answer.
I would like to have American relatives too! Anyway, sometimes I see on FT some Italians but really few.

Ps: Heather is also my girlfriend's name in Italian (Erica) .

Apparently this side of FT is a whole 'nuther universe from the parallel one I mainly live in.

Click on this link for a list of countries represented on the other side. Clik on "Italy" to find there are 462 registered users who name Italy as their home.

I am really surprised at how many Australians there are. I had no idea. Until this poll I just assumed most were from USA or Uk because the vast majority of the questions seem to be slanted that way (especially the dreaded sport !)

Don't you think this could be construed as a "Racist" Poll?
The "powers that be" seem to be of the opinion, that some threads (for example, the one posted by someone from the Philippines, asking our opinions) could be taken as racist?
Would be nice if we could make our own decisions in this regard, Thanks.

No it is not racist. Also this is not the thread in which to comment about my closing the thread you mention. Please use the Feedback forum.

Dear Sue

After reading all the replies, I'm curious: If you had the chance to go back in time and design this poll all over again, would you go through with it? Sorta looks like a simple wee question blossomed into a small war zone..:)

No I wouldn't have bothered. It was just supposed to be a fun thing. As I said in my first post...

We joke about the apparently vast number of Australians who appear here in the forums, but logically we are going to have mostly Americans I suppose. I thought a little poll, Australians, Americans, Brits and the rest of the world - so lets try it.

Well, I'm glad you did, Sue, it's interesting.

Update:

Where do you fit in the following choices
Users may choose only one (1092 total votes)

American - USA 416 38%

Australian 109 10%

British - including 'exports' I suppose 251 23%

Canadians 81 07%

Europe - not UK 117 11%

Rest of the world 118 11%

Why would it be racist to ask someone what country they are from? I'm fron the "rest of the world" that is, Israel. (But I was born and brought up in the good ole USA)

The Moderators get to decide if a Topic is racist or not, and they can also decide if anyone else is interested in posting on a Topic.

Janetgool, the "racist" thing was mentioned by Trigger7 with regard to another topic in another Forum.
So that is not about this poll.

And Trigger...

I think you might have misunderstood what Sue said in that other topic - she simply said that nobody would post any negative opinion (criticism) as an answer to that person's question - because answering with a negative comment would mean "racism".
I'm sure you're aware that, usually, when someone says anything negative about a nation it's taken as *racism*.

Anyway...let's not discuss a different topic in here any further. Please?
