i'm fairly new here, so forgive me if this has been discussed, but i was curious to know your favorite disney movie. i have a few: i've always loved "lady and the tramp". i think that is my all time favorite disney film. i also liked "the lion king". i took my niece, who was about 4 at the time, to see this one. this was pretty much the first film she'd ever been to in a theater, and she was really fascinated by the whole thing. i guess i watched the movie through her eyes, and that made it extra special for me. this one goes back a ways, but i can remember seeing "that darn cat" about 30 years ago, and i loved it. i was quite young at the time, but it must have had an impact on me, because i consider it one of my favorites to this day. does anyone else have disney favorites they would like to share?

I really didn't like Cap&Capper, it was dull. But I really love "The Beauty and the Beast", but my kids are now too old to watch it with me, poor me.

"The Lion King" Rah Rah Rah!!! "Hacuna Matata, that's our motto." (Pumba) "What's a motto?" (Simba) "Nuttin, whatsa matter with you?!" (Timon) "Gee kid, what's eatin ya?" (Pumba) "Nothing, he's at the top of the food chain!" (Timon) I also like "The Little Mermaid". I think that song/scene in the cavern is one of my favorites! What would I give Wouldn't I love To explore that shore up above! Wandering free, wish I could be part of that world. Yeah, it's probably my favorite original song from film. I've got other favorites, the animation in "The Road to El Dorado" was really good I thought. Hrm, I could go on for days, that's what raising toddlers does for you: makes you an expert on cartoons!

My absolute favorite is Jungle Book. Especially Balou the bear and the bear necessities made it great. When I was little I also loved Snow White and the 7 dwarves. Most emotional disney movie according to me was The Lion King. So sad Tom

Where do I start. My first is "The Little Mermaid", I loved The Emporor's new Groove, David Spade did a great job. Beauty and the Beast was good. But my new favorite it Fantasia 2000, I saw it at the Imax near me, and I have never experianced anything like it before. [ 04-16-2001: Message edited by: Kristyfl80 ]

Cohalen, you beat me to the punch. My all time favorite Disney film is also "Darby O'Gill and the Little People". This movie has it all (except gratuitous sex and violence of course), great action, a love story, great special effects, and of course a pre-Bond Sean Connery trying his best to speak in an Irish brogue instead of his native Scottish trill. Really magical. Hard to find in stock in your local video store around St. Patrick's day, but usually there and gathering dust the rest of the year. A truly great family film! I also really liked "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh". Early Sixties actioner set in eighteeth century England. Stars Patrick McGoohan just about the same time he was doing "Secret Agent", a prelude to his excellent "Prisoner" TV series. This is one of the few films Disney ever made with political overtones of any kind. Kind of a common man against the bad old agents of the crown type of film, not unlike "Braveheart" or "Robin Hood" in spirit. This was made especially for "The Wonderful World Of Color" Disney TV show, I don't think it was ever released in theaters, and it was a two(or was it three) parter with some great cliffhangers to get the audience to tune in for the next episode. Almost impossible to find on video, but worth looking for. [ 05-08-2001: Message edited by: tim10001 ]

I too like "Darby O'Gill and the Little People", and their classic version of "Treasure Island"; I don't care what anybody says, to me Robert Newton IS Long John Silver! And that ending! Improved on the book's! But my all-time favorite is "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea"; Mason and Douglas were perfect(and Kirk sang that rollicking song!), the underwater photography was a dream, the model work on the Nautilus would have entrance Verne, and nothing can top that fight with the squid in the storm!(and it was directed by Max Fleischer's son Richard!) tjoeb};>

I enjoyed Mulan more than even Beauty and the Beast. I had resisted seeing it, thinking that I wouldn't enjoy it, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The animation is superb, Disney surpassed themselves. The scene in which the Hun swarm over the snow covered mountain on horseback is absolutely stunning. The mood is dark and brooding, and what a heroine!
