Definitely Öbuda , a part of Budapest. It's quiet, very green, and best of all, close enough to the rest of Budapest that, if you really felt so inclined, you could spit on it. The funicular is a good laugh too, if you have 700HUF that you want shot of. Gellerthegy is a fantastic landmark to be set against!

I will be near your house in June then, skunkee, as I'm visiting friends at St Cath's! Niagara is one of my favourite places, I love standing right by the edge and watching all that water going over - awesome! Favourite city: Berlin first, then Washington DC. Favourite scenery: Cornwall (with Lake District a close second). Favourite historical place: Middleham Castle in Yorkshire.

Aside from Jerusalem, which is an amazing city, I'd have to mention Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts -Alice's Restaurant territory!

Seattle, Washington. I love just sitting on the beach in Discovery Park, not really doing anything, just relaxing and reminiscing.

I share Sue's sentiment, not being able to name just one place as an all-time favorite. That old apples and oranges thing, I guess, but one place that has a very dear spot in my heart is Bruges, Belgium. With its mix of medieval and modern, I have spent hours just meandering down the curved cobbled streets finding beauty in every step; I would return there in a heartbeat if given a chance.

My favorite place is the Girl Scout ranch outside Estes Park. I went there many times when I was younger and worked there for a summer a few years ago. It's very peaceful.

I did my college thesis work in Greece, on the island of Thera. Fell in love with it and Santorini, and I've dremed about it since. I always wanted to move there when I retired. Now my health will no longer permit it, but still...

Agree with Sat about Dartington - lovely green oasis.
Have been to so many interesting and awesome cities and countries, but heart is always in Mallorca - not all costas and kiss me quick hats. The countryside inland is beautiful and relaxing, especially around the small town of Arta.
Most spectacular cities have to be Paris and Florence - the art and architecture are unforgettable.
Best beach, has to be Seychelles, la Digue island... magic
