What the hell...I don't know if this is a new topic or not, but since baseball season has started again...what is your favorite baseball movie and why?

My two are....

Bull Durham...one reason...Susan Sarandon. (okay...the film is good too, but her performance steals the show)

Mr. Baseball...you probably have to have been an expat in Asia to fully understand the humor of this film.

The Natural was a nice B_ball movie....I guess....lol-

I also enjoyed "Bull Durham" and "The Natural".

I thought "Eight Men Out" was a very good movie. I had not been aware of the Chicago Black Sox scandal before I saw that film.

I loved "Field Of Dreams".

I thought "Major League" was a very funny film --and it also reminded me of the Mets during some of their more dismal seasons .

And, among the really older films, there is the fine, "The Pride Of The Yankees" and "Fear Strikes Out", as well as a cute comedy, "It Happens Every Spring".

I really enjoy baseball movies.

I am looking forward to seeing Billy Crystal's new movie, "61*" and I hope to catch it on HBO this week.

I also liked Major League, good selection Chelsea.

i think my new favorite might be "61*", the billy crystal directed film that's airing on hbo this month.
i've always liked "a league of their own". it shows the sports world from a female perspective, which you don't get to see very often. a great story, great acting, and great directing. what a fine film.

maybe it's just because im a chick,
but i loved, "In A League Of Their Own."

Not a chic-flik but a movie about female ballplayers who find themselves in A League of Their Own after having been previously [and later] excluded from baseball's mainstream in the 1940s.
Another one I like is For Love of the Game, a combination baseball/love story. What could be better than that?

I'm a baseball fan,but I havent seen a baseball movie I've liked.The Ken Burns special was good.Much too long,but good.

being from cincinnati I knew quite well about the 1919 world series in Eight Men Out....They played the Reds in that series....

and its my favorite aside from the major league ones...those are funny and the Bad News Bears...

A League of Their Own is my favourite baseball movie too

I only saw 1 baseball movie, so it is my favorite too
And the title is: Major League with wild thing Charlie Sheen.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "Bang The Drum Slowly".
This is the "Brian's Song" of baseball movies.
De Niro's portrayal of a naive, major league catcher is unparalleled, although the catchers played in "Major League 2" and "For Love Of The Game" tried to recreate it.
Why is it that the 'catcher' is always played like some backwoods bumpkin?

Leprechaun, you are right on with 'Bang the Drum Slowly',but it is so depressing I can only watch it once a year.
