I've been watching the new Taye Diggs series, Daybreak. It's a neat show, but I don't see it having much staying power long term. He's gorgeous, so it's an appetizer before I get my Lost back in Feb. BUT, what I wanted to say is that I saw a preview for the next set of Lost episodes while watching Daybreak this week. Supposedly each new Daybreak episode is going to have some Lost clips in it. It was a scene between Hurley and Locke this week. Hurley was asking Locke if the people on the island now had special powers. He made a reference to the Fantastic Four and how they changed after their experience. Locke sorta dismissed Hurley, but then Hurley pointed out that Locke was experiencing precog type powers now.

It seems folks here are a little naive as to why the producers decided to have an hiatus until February. See, they know they've got folks hooked on this show. They're holding back until February in the hopes of huge ratings during sweeps. For any who might not know, sweeps is a period when Nielsen ratings are tracked and published for the benefit of advertisers, so they can determine what time slots to put their commercials in.
My two cents on the story: I'm tired of Jack thinking he knows what's best for everyone else, which is why I'm a big fan of Locke and of Sawyer, although I also think Sawyer's got to be the hottest guy on TV these days.
I'm sorry to have seen Eko go too. I hope Sayid kicks Henry's behind... I think Henry's a conniving little Hitler.
I think Sun is smarter than she lets folks know, and so is Jin. I think Jin speaks fluent English, and that not even Sun knows it.

Actually, the producers stated that they did this because of all the complaints last year about repeated episodes. People were tired of 1 new episode every three weeks during the Nov- Feb time period. I agree, it was annoying for me not knowing which week had the new episode. I understand your POV about sweeps, every Nov and Feb shows pull out the best they can for ratings, but I don't think this show is one to worry about sweeps. It pulls in 16 million viewers each show already. I can say, though, that the brilliant Criminal Minds is also doing this in the same time slot.

It's not that this show "worries" about sweeps. It's that the network uses this show's draw to sell to advertisers, and they also use it to pull viewers in to less-watched shows before and after "Lost." The explanation that "we didn't have enough episodes ready to go all at once" is less than truthful. They purposely delayed production to fit the sweeps.

I heard they're changing the Lost time slot so it doesn't conflict with Criminal Minds and the next new season of American Idol. Didn't see what time slot Lost will be in, however.

Showing a series didn't used to be 1 new episode then 3 repeats... so I have no clue why they didn't just go back to the old way of doing a TV season instead of this huge hiatus. My husband keeps asking me if Lost will be on every Wednesday and I have to keep saying no. It kinda feels like saying no to a child because he gets a little sad then!

Beth, it's an hour later, 10 pm Eastern time. Your poor hubby! I've been enjoying Daybreak, and not minding the hiatus for Lost. It's fun to get the tiny little previews for Lost in each Daybreak episode.

I spend ages looking through youtube to find these! Can't wait for the rest of the third series. At least, in my point of view, the cliffhanger wasn't too bad, unlike last year with the whole "Dad?" thing on the computer.

It was definitely worth the wait! Also, I'm glad they showed a "Survivor Guide" that helps recap what has happened so far.

A lot of things surprised me this time, such as Ben ordering Juliet to help Kate and Sawyer escape (yes, I believe he told her that), and finding out who Alex's father is. That was the most surprising about Alex's father. I won't reveal who it was just in case some people haven't seen it yet, but it brings up some more questions for sure.

You know he isn't her REAL father, right? If he was, then Danielle is totally nuts. I am assuming he just BECAME her father after she was taken from Danielle.

Yes, it was worth the wait, and I suspect the next 15 will be even more worth it. I read that Damon said the finale for this season will be very shocking.

Do we REALLY know anything that's happening on the island? OK, rhetorical question. But you do bring up a good point, maybe he is just her father given that Alex was just a baby when she was taken, but still. I wouldn't put it past Danielle. Wednesday cannot come fast enough.

Yep I am on the same page... who KNOWS what Danielle really did vs what she believes to be true. Can we say who Alex's father is now or wait?

I spent the 3 months saying that I wasn't too bothered by the wait. But this weeks episode was really good! OK so I saw the end coming from about half way through.

I may have made this up and or dreamt it, but doesn't the next episode explain loads about the others, and what they are doing and why?

I only saw what the previews showed for this week, so I don't think it does tell a whole bunch of the others stories, but who knows?

I wasn't so keen on the Desmond episodes. I felt they could have got all the important info from the flashback, into a normal length flashback and have more island stuff.

The Jack one was OK. I feel the series is moving pretty slowly at the moment, like they are trying to drag it out as long as they can.

Tonight's episode is supposed to tell us how Locke was paralyzed. I can't wait...I've been wondering that now for three seasons.

Just seen this weeks. Gotta say that I have found lost to be quite predictable recently. The last few episodes I have found I have guessed the end about half way through, and how Locke got paralyzed I got half right after the 'previously on lost'!

However, I have found it more enjoyably recently, it's almost back to the good old days where nothing quite makes sense :P

I really liked the last episode of lost (the Nicki Paulo one), all seemed slightly irrelevant to the rest of the show, but still :P.

I really liked seeing Boone again, and their flashbacks were pretty good. Made some of the previous bits make much more sense.

I had a feeling that one of them (Nicki/Paulo) would open their eyes while Sawyer and Hurly were tossing the sand back into the grave. However, I did not think that both, Sawyer and Hurly, would miss it when Nicki's eyes opened.

I thought the Ben/Julia backflash was a bit odd. Especially when Julia said Jack was cute. That struck me as weird!

It also gave a bit of insight to Ben. How every one thinks he knows it all...well now "we" know that he does not know everything....he snoops. So he is not all that special.

I found it pretty cool how they were able to integrate them into all those old scenes that we all KNOW they were not in originally. At first I was sort of bored, but as it continued on, I really loved it. I know it was a "filler" episode and a way to get rid of characters that ultimately did not work in the main cast, but I enjoyed it. And, talk about poetic justice. Even though they got what they deserved, it left me disturbed. I hate that whole buried alive situation.

I did too Agnes, I knew one would open their eyes! And like you, I just knew someone would SEE it! It left me feeling ill.

I agree Ben's not the all omniscient he acts like, and I knew he couldn't be. We all know, he is NOT the top dog on that island. NO way!

How in the heck did Locke's dad get on the island? Did he really appear out of nowhere so Locke could get revenge?

I am hoping season five is the final season, and we know the fate of all the survivors. I don't think it could be settled in season four; I think it's too early.

It seemed to me like she said that, to get a reaction of some sort from Ben.
I do agree about the whole buried alive thing, can't imagine anything worse than that. I assume that Nicki and Paulo could hear everything that was being said, can you imagine being in that situation?? Hearing that people think you are dead and not being able to do anything to stop them burring you.

I think there's meant to be seven series isn't there? I'm sure I heard that somewhere.

I er um do have a theory on whom I think is the top dog. However, I hope that I am clear in my explanation as to the who. Okay here goes.

Go back to the first season...

When the plane crashed and we saw Jack stumbling around the island...and he saw is father (or what he thought was his father), well then in the last season on "LOST" we know the smoke monster takes on different forms, as it did with Ecko's brother and eventually the smoke monster killed Ecko. Okay now back to Jack...in season one Jack eventually finds his father's coffin, but it is empty. I do not really think, no have ever thought that Jack's father was dead. I mean he never saw the body really...it was already in the coffin waiting to be transported to the States. I think it was all a ploy to get Jack on that specific flight.

I also think that everyone will eventually be connected with Jack. I think he is the link for everyone on that island.

Now since we know that the smoke monster can take on different forms, it is very possible that it took on the form of Jack's father to try to seek out any weakness in Jack.

Okay now skip to the present season, we know that Ben is not the top dog of the Others. I think that Jack's father is not really dead, and that he IS the top dog of the Others.

Just my theory.

I have read five in Lost magazine several times. They figured 5 seasons to sort it all out.

It's a fine theory Agnes. No reason not to entertain that idea. The only opposing idea I'd have is that Christian is too weak to be a leader of the others. He drank too much, cheated, was flawed too much. But hey, I have no reason to argue against the theory as a real possibility. God forbid Locke's dad IS their leader... I mean we already know he's very smart and sneaky like Ben... Maybe Ben is related to Locke, maybe they have the same father? I am sure Locke's father is the one who conned Sawyer's mother.

So between drinking, doing surgery, running a hospital staff, having a kid.... he had enough time to be top-dog of the others?! Nah, I don't really think there is one shred of evidence to support that theory, no offence.
