Okay, I saw a movie on TV. I'd just like to see if you know the name of the movie. My memory is kinda blurry but, here goes..
Okay, at the beggining theres an old woman looking for a flower. Her and her friend have two different markers and when they find a new flowers, they put their marker there. So, the woman comes home and she gets murdered. They have these detectives come on the case.
Then theres a lady who is like the town gossip. She has binoculars and sees everything. She didn't see the murder though. She says that see watches the birds.
Then, the other mystery in the story is that there was a bunch of people on a hunting trip, they were hunting geesee or something. One of the girls there had gotten shot. The guy that shot her was aiming for someone else though. I'm not sure if she died.
Okay, well, I think that the bird lady had seen that. One one day, someone knocks on her door. Her housekeeper guy answers the door and says: "Oh, It's you.." then the person stabs him. Then they go on and kill the bird lady. I think that there were wedding plans going on throughtout the movie.
Okay, I know the name of the killer. Since I'm not supposed to spoil it, I'll PM you and tell you if you want.
So, if you know the name please tell me!

I think I know the movie you are speaking of. It was one of those British detective serial movies.

The man that answered the door was actually the woman's son. He was an undertaker. Is that the movie that you are speaking of?

I don't think it was the following detective/s
Taggart
Dalziel and Pascoe
Inspector Frost
or one of the Midsummer Murders

possible a detective who had a name like Wakecliffe?

Hmmmmm... maybe Wakecliffe. It could've been her son... I know it was British. There were two detectives. There was a person named Cathrine/Kathrine/Kathryn. Ummm. Kathryn's brother was in love with a girl in te neighbourhood and he ws drawing a picture of here. He is an artist. Kathryn and her brother have a housekepper and they are always fighting.

The detective I am thinking of is Detective Superintendent Wycliffe. I am still trying to find information about this particular movie.

I can find the names of two movie length episodes (and 37 regular episodes) but I cannot find detail on the episodes.

Wycliffe and the Cycle of Death (movie length premier)
Dance of the Scorpion

I believe that it is either an episode or a movie length episode of Wycliffe but I can't find a site that gives the synopsis of each episode. I will come back with a site that list each episodes name. Maybe something will ring a bell for you (doesn't for me)

I hope I am right about it being a Wycliffe show. There is a list of the episodes of Wycliffe at this address
http://epguides.com/Wycliffe/

Wycliffe was created by W.J.Burley. A series of the books were released after the series aired. Some might be available at your local library.

I looked on TALIS the Tasmanian library catalogue and found that there are quite a few of the Wycliffe books listed. I am going to visit two of these libraries tomorrow to look at the books they have on the shelves. However it seems that the Wycliffe books are popular and a few are out on loan.

I am currently studying to be a library tech and a few of the women I share classes with work in libraries I can't easily get to (I rely on buses). I will ask some them to look at the Wycliffe books on their shelves.

It might take awhile but I am determined to find out this movie's name.

Here is a summary of what we have so far...
PLOT
At the beginning there’s an old woman looking for a flower. She and her friend have two different markers and when they find new flowers, they put their marker there. So, the woman comes home and she gets murdered. They have these detectives come on the case.
Then there’s a lady who is like the town gossip. She has binoculars and sees everything. She didn't see the murder though. She says that see watches the birds.
Then, the other mystery in the story is that there was a bunch of people on a hunting trip, they were hunting geese or something. One of the girls there had gotten shot. The guy that shot her was aiming for someone else though. I'm not sure if she died.
Okay, well, I think that the bird lady had seen that. One day, someone knocks on her door. Her son answers the door and says: "Oh, It's you...” then the person stabs him. Then they go on and kill the bird lady. Okay, I know the name of the killer, its _______________.
OTHER
I think that there were wedding plans going on throughout the movie.
I know it was British. There were two detectives. Kathryn's brother was in love with a girl in the neighborhood and he was drawing a picture of her. He is an artist. Kathryn and her brother have a housekeeper and they are always fighting.
CAST
There was a whole crew of people.
Here are some:
The Lady killed in the beginning
Bird Lady
Bird Lady's Son
Detective 1
Detective 2
Kathryn
Kathryn's Brother
Kathryn's Brother’s girlfriend
Kathryn + Brother's Housekeeper
A Man and A Woman getting married (maybe Kathryn?)
A Lady who got shot at a bird hunt

IT IS MAYBE: One of the Wycliffe episodes, Wycliffe and the Cycle of Death, Dance of the Scorpion.
IS PROBABLY NOT: Taggart, Dalziel and Pascoe, Inspector Frost, one of the Midsummer Murders
Okay, the Title, I believe it was kind of long and it had words like this in it: Death, Murder, Mystery, Killer, etc;
Whoa, that was my longest post ever (even though I didn't type it out.)

And thank you so much zozo YOU ARE THE GREATEST!!!

Sorry Mew, I lead you astray. I asked one of my teleholic friends about this movie and it was she who said it was not one of the Midsomer Murders. The plot was not familiar to her. She said she had seen all of the Midsomer Murder episode. See said Wycliffe as she had missed several of them.

But she was wrong -

EPISODE 1
THE KILLINGS AT BADGERS DRIFT

Miss Emily Simpson drives through 'Midsomer's Best Kept Village' on her bicycle, greeting some villages on the way and speaking to her friend Lucy Bellringer. Emily goes into the woods, becoming excited when she finds a specimen of the 'Spurred Oral Root' orchid. She takes some photos and begins to mark her find with a piece of wood tied with pink ribbon. Suddenly some groaning and panting noises are coming from behind the trees. Emily walks over to where the sound is coming from to investigate. She is frightened and starts to run away. We see some bare feet follow her and pick up her orchid markers.

Emily cycles fiercely back home and makes two phone calls, one asking for a number in Brighton. Someone approaches the cottage, knocks on the door and enters; Emily looks towards the door frightened. She is later found dead, her neck is broken. Her friend, Lucy Bellringer is convinced she has been murdered!

Here is a site that shows the birdwatcher's house
http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Satellite/9476/badgersdrift.htm

The biggest mystery now is what Emily said before she died.....'Notlike__________. I believe it was the real first name of one of the characters but she never used. But suspicion fell on her because of it.

I got the book by Caroline Graham and I'm a quarter way through. I haven't found the name yet though. I do remember that part in the movie. So, I better start reading...

On page 178 of the Large Print version, the woman who got the call said that Mrs. Simpson said to her,
quote:
"Just like poor Annabella."

Maybe we should make this a game in the "movie chat" area. One person describes a semi-obscure movie plot and others have to guess which movie it is...

Or take a well-known movie and describe it in a misleading way, like someone who just doesn't get it.
