I learnt that if you dont hold your breath until an ambulance is out of sight or until you see a dog, that the person inside the ambulance will die.

The Phillies played Kansas City Royals in the 1980 World Series. They won 4 - 2. Did I really want to know that? As for that ambulance thing, I sincerely hope that there is no truth there because otherwise I will have killed numerous people as I never hold my breath when I see an ambulance. Ah, hang on, yes, of course they will die, everyone dies at some stage. Duh!

About a technical thing called 'race conditions' which causes the occasion blip in the system - that is in a thread in Feedback.

Where are you more likely to find the largest number of living organisms (including microbes) in one gallon of water? The correct answer was Arctic Ocean. Cold, turbulent waters harbor the most biomass, in part because oxygen dissolves more in cold water than warm water. Yes, yes, I got it incorrect, I thought they would reproduce better in a warmer body of water.

I learnt there were 13 extra US state codes besides the usual ones. Pity the brain twist managed to catch me. Maybe I'll work them out later...

I learned that I really hate those *&%$#^$ questions regarding the birthday of some "celebrity" that I have never even heard of. Suzie Q. was born on April 6, 1883 April 12, 1983 March 3, 1983 March 4, 1983
I have not yet learned why this information is of the slightest interest to anyone other than Suzie Q. and her parents.
However, I am finally starting to relearn a great deal about the consorts of various deceased Kings.

And the answer was?
I am afraid when I come across this type of question I don't actually learn anything as it is of no interest whatsoever, like who the Phillies played or won. That goes straight out of my brain but if asked again about the living organisms in the oceans I will remember, and about race conditions.

You're not stuck with that new Start Menu in Windows XP, whether you like it or not.
If you prefer the Classic Start Menu, changing it is easy. Right-click in an empty space on the taskbar and click Properties. This opens the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window. Click on the Start Menu tab, select the radio button for Classic Start Menu, click Apply and then OK.
I got this one correct but it was only a lucky guess. I hadn't realised that you could change it, I have now followed the instructions in the 'interesting information' and have decided that I prefer the new start menu anyway, but at least we have the choice.

The main onion in Georgia is the Vidalia onion, from the town of that name.
One back, London's North Circular road doesn't circle the whole north side before crossing the Thames but becomes the South Circular at the Chiswick roundabout. Technically this is against the official geography unless it follows the postal numbering where South begins south of Charing Cross and not the river. You could find this on the global one day in one of my quizzes but I think it's far too obscure to be included so I'll put it here in case anyone ever wants to stump 99.9% of Londoners who wouldn't know this (unlike my father who knows most of my geographics).

There's a difference between Holland and the Netherlands. The country is called The Netherlands, and Holland makes up two of the twelve provinces within that country.
