I just got a part time job as teaching assistant in a year 6 class. It will be 3 days per week (Tue-Thu), from after the mid-term break until May.
Obviously a full time job would be even better, but hopefully I'll be able to get some casual work for Mondays and Fridays.
Anyway, I'm quite excited.
The only "downside" is that it takes me a bit over an hour to get there, but that's just what happens when you're silly enough to move to a city like London.

Very well done! I used to do volunteer work, listening to children read etc, before they got too much for me, and I used to really enjoy it.

Very well done, and, as for the travel, you do get used to it . . . I used to commute an hour-and-a-half each way 5 days per week when I worked full time . . . anyway, again, Yay!

I started a new job on Sept. 25th after being unemployed for 9 months! It was a shock to the system after all that time. Now I feel like I've been there forever, it doesn't take long! I work in a residential care home for the elderly. Hard work, my feet kill me at the end of the day, but it is rewarding.
