Nah, it's a simulated pheremone. Drives the girlies wild ...

It certainly does. The girls here on the SE coast thought it was effluent and poured detergent over it all. Terribly sorry, but it was, after all, such an easy mistake to make.

Aha! The truth is out . . . it was the 'Sump Oil' . . . erm, Marmite . . . the girlies 'laundered' . . .

As for the difference in population, thus statistics, it is obvious that Vegemite will ALWAYS be the supreme, healthy, natural, delicious super-spread that it ALWAYS has been, and no amount of coercion nor corruption from anywhere else in the entire world will EVER convince a true-blue, dinki-di, ridgey-didge, born 'n' bred AUSSI E otherwise . . . NEVER !

Vegemite Rules . . . The Poll (adjusted statistically to redress the divergence in population/s) says so . . .

Behold Marmite soldiers the many colours of the Vegemite monster. Behold and be warned for they are not carbon based bipeds but vegetables that merely simulate the characteristics of carbon based life forms. See how they change colour at will; tremble now as the horror that is the Vegemite sludge moves inexorably closer to civilized shores. Vegemite beasties, it is not too late. Change your ways.....change to the true glory of Marmite and be saved.
On the other hand if you must consume Vegemite, please do NOT travel abroad. It is grossly unfair to inflict such chronic meteorism upon unsuspecting populations.

What a joke. Kraft Foods, America, is the owner of Vegemite. The smallest jar of Vegemite in the USA is priced at $4.80 ($AUD 6.33). Maybe it has a lid of gold.
I don't like the taste of it, but, to those who like it, enjoy!

If you state that Vegemite is perfection at that price, and accept the profit going to the USA, then you are non-committed to "Buy Australian".
Put some healthy spread on your bread, not production line gunk, contents of which are unknown.( Do not read the label, the full contents are not disclosed.)
To those who have never tasted Marmite,do yourself a favour, try it!

Like the living dead Vegemite raises its drooling swamp like head again. And, indeed, the insect corpses which are its main ingredient will make your stomach a 'living hell'. The only way vegemite could justify its absurd price would be if it included medical insurance. Surely it is now time that Vegemite was classed as an illegal substance, and those suffering from vegemite symptoms, and oh so many do , should be refused medical attention because of their own blatant self abuse.
Come to world of Marmite, the king of healthy spreads.

So horribly true Vegemite, the essence of the living dead, refuses to die...it lingers on, and thus it acquires its morbid taste. Oh - the horror of it all!

hehe - having this thread brought up is like seeing an old friend again.

Was on a trip[ this last week and was at McDonalds - I had my own Vegemite there for the boy but needed toast. I had to order a ham/cheese/tomato toasted sandwich without the ham, cheese or tomato so they would give me a couple slices.

When I was airlifted to England a couple of years back I was horrified to find that the hospital didn't provide Marmite. I asked the sister to telephone my daughter who had shot down to London when I was transfered to ask her to bring me some Marmite - I couldn't have survived without it.

But you look nothing like Jack Nicholson!

(I hope someone gets that reference or I'm going to feel like a real moron... )

Im an American and I happen to love Vegemite. Marmite didnt impress me as much when I was living in the UK. Maybe because my Australian host "family" had already indoctrinated me to the joys of a Vegemite sandwich.

Taesma, I got it! Jack Nicholson in "As Good As It Gets," isn't that what you are referring to?

Ah, close, Jar_ but not quite (although that movie has a plethora of great quotes ).

I was thinking of "Five Easy Pieces". There's a classic scene in that where he wants to order toast, but like Copago had to order a sandwich, hold everything, to get it. (Chicken salad, I believe.)
I'm sure Copago was able to do it without the Nicholson attitude, though.

I'm an American who just came back from Australia some months ago and I brought a jar of Vegemite back with me that I bought at the Sydney airport.

What is the final word on it? Is it legal in the US or not? I can't seem to find a definite answer.

(PS, All my friends and family hated it. But I like it.)

I used to hate Vegemite when I was little, but now I can't have a piece of toast without it!

It is an aquired taste though, and it took me a while to aquire it, but I don't think I could go without it for even a month.

As for Marmite, I've heard of it, but never tasted it. I don't think I'd like it though.
