I never tasted Vegemite but I did eat lots of Marmite during my one-month visit to the UK - I loved it! So I don't know what to do? Vote or not?

I think Sue is flogging a dead horse here- soliciting votes and all! Vegemite Rules, OK? If anyone wants to try some of this delectable substance, just send a message to an Aussie. I am sure you will find one that will be happy to oblige.

OK, I will forgive you ClaraSue OK, if the Aussies are offering to send out their inferior product then I will send to anyone here who wants to try Marmite - I can get little mini pots so the postage won't cripple me. Just let me have your postal addresses either by PM or by email and I will get some in the post to you.

What a pathetic woman you are, begging! I will have to investigate to see if they still make those dinky little bars which used to sell for 2d (yes old money dear) back in the fifties, if they do then I will send you one. Failing that you devious woman, next time you are in England buy yourself some!

Is there any particular flavor you like best, Sue? I sometimes see the sugar free ones at places during my travels. I will look for some for you.

Oooer, anything, just no added sugar. It is so long since I had any, there was only one flavour I didn't like of the ones with sugar which I used to buy daily as I was addicted, and I cannot remember what it was.

Well if begging works I might add that Cadburys chocolate is GREAT, but the Cadburys from the UK tastes better than the one made in South Africa. Toured Cadbury World last year and ate till our tummys hurt. What about Curly Whirleys??? They stopped importing those and they dont have the machine to make them (I e.mailed them and checked) here. So Sad! Maybe I will find some in my christmas stocking.....

Sue, this site (if you haven't already seen it) sells the no sugar added ones in the gift boxes--don't see them sold seperately though. It seems, though, if I'm translating my numbers properly, that the shipping cost offshore is ridiculous. But, hey, if you're desperate... http://jellybelly-uk.com/index.shtml

Sue, can you please copy/paste results of the poll? It does not want to update on this computer...

Marmite or Vegemite? Users may choose many (40 total votes) I love Marmite - 8 20% I love Vegemite - 17 41% Tastes like Sump oil / Axle grease - 2 5% I HATE Marmite / Vegemite - 6 15% Never heard of either until I came here - 4 10% I would like to try them - 4 10% The poll is obviously faulty, or else we have far more Aussies than Brits - or the Aussies are cheating and saying they love it when they hate it! Have I got to go site wide and drag people in here to vote?

As an American I have to say that I like vegemite. Quite a lot, actually. But I also have to say that (when a kind soul sent me some from Australia - it's next to impossible to find where I live) every person I insisted try it over here just hated it. Truth is, most spit it out in a hurry. The USA is very obsessed with sweets and such. Vegemite is too salty for most, I reckon. To the majority of Americans, though, I doubt if anyone'd notice it being "off the shelf". It's just not the sort of thing that people like over here, sad to say. We're an odd bunch. Nobody likes anchovies either on this side of the world. I do.
I love anchovies on pizza! I don't know why everyone thinks they're gross. Most of the people I've talked to who "hate" anchovies have never tried one. One person I talked to had, but not on a pizza... just by itself. Hmmm... rather like a salty, bone-filled popsicle, that! But on pizza? FABULOUS!
I've never tried Vegemite or Marmite although I'd heard of both. I went to that MarmArt page of Sue's, though, and I must stay the stuff sure looks like axle grease!
