We actually talked about Vegemite in psychology, and the reason why Australians love it and most everyone else hates it is because Australians have an acquired taste for it, since they've been eating it for a very long time.

I have never tasted vegemite before.

But if you have tasted marmite :O I don't think you even need to contemplate taking vegemite off the shelf

The Australians might have been eating it for a long time but it hasn't been around for as long as Marmite. If you read the articles, they couldn't sell it when they first introduced it so gave it away free with other products, they flooded the market with freebies.

OK, I have to disclose this bit of 'classified' information - while in UK (Scotland), the friend I was visiting told me NOT to try Marmite (when I saw it in a supermarket and asked what's that) cause it's "Yuk!" - but I've always been a very curious one so I didn't follow the advice. I'm glad I didn't!

Oh, and Sue...I did vote "I love Marmite"
Errrmm...excuse me for asking but do you own a 'food/confectionery' business of some sort? - do you accept orders from Eastern Europe too?

I seen a pot of caviar in Harrods during one of my trips to London and it was like in excess of £200.00!!

It doesn't even look that nice.

Can't be as nice as marmite surely

Also kindly note that Vegemite is fat free, low in kilojoules, high in Vitamin B and Folate etc, thus, Vegemite is not only Australian but very good for you (beats sump oil anyday)!

I forgot to say the class I was teaching today (29 of them )
I asked them if they loved Marmite and they all said yes they adored it. So you can add them Sue.I didnt have to stay and supervise the detention either. They all agreed to vote nicely.

There you go then, add 29 little Chinese children to the totals.
