Don't get to see many movies but "Armageddon" was on TV here last week and I thought that was pretty bad, okay the effects were pretty good but that was it. And I failed to understand "Pulp Fiction", I'd had a huge night the night before and ended up falling asleep in the cinema and must of missed the bit that put all the pieces together. Haven't seen Blair Witch but my Mum said she got motion sick in it!

I think the "american teenager" kind of movies like "American Pie" and "Scream" and "10 Things I Hate About You" are all too predictable and boring. The acting is the same in almost all of these kind of movies, it's damn annoying!

I'm not going to get into any arguments here I hope, but what planet is the person who said The Wizard of Oz and Gone With The Wind are the worst movies they have ever seen from? I would love to know what other movies they are being compared to! Same with whoever said Grease and those who said Titanic. You must all be from the same place! It is pretty obvious, none of you have seen Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Plan 9, both versions of The Man With Two Heads, Empire of the Ants, Picture Mommy Dead, Attack of the Giant Leeches, The Colassal Man etc., etc. If you check those out you may change your minds about the ones you mentioned! Personally, the worst movie I paid to see at a theatre is Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It was just as boring as when I went to a Supertramp concert! Some may agree and others may not, but come on, The Wizard of Oz and Gone With The Wind bad movies? I don't think so Tim!

First of all, I have to agree with jazz that Hollywood has gone on hiatus from filmmaking lately. They are too predictable and sappy for me. I loved The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, only because that is the type of movie I like, and at the time of the murders, I was visiting friends near Longview, Texas and knew the story intimately. But it really was a cheesy low budget film, compared to most other B-movies. rj211- I have seen the movie you are talking about, but for the life of me, I can't remember the name either, sorry. It WAS bad! Vikan- that pig movie sounds really disgusting! I'm glad I've never had the pleasure of viewing it! Brainy Blonde- Hi! I've never addressed you personally until now, because you are SO smart, and I am a little intimidated by you, although you seem very nice and approachable. I just wondered why you thought Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes wasn't funny. It was suppose to be a cheesy spoof on horror movies, but I can see why it may appear idiotic. The worst movie I have ever seen was Disclosure, by Michael Crichton, (Jurassic Park, one of my favorites). It is the only movie I have ever walked out of, fortunately there were other theaters, so I was able to watch something else. Also, I just wanted to mention that I use to live less than a mile from where, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers was filmed, Sierra Madre, CA. It still has that quaint little square downtown. One of my best friends, even has an office there. Bird

The worst movie I think I ever saw and which I begged for my money back was a space film in the 1980s called "Outlaw" or something like that. And the guy blows up in the elevator in the first five minutes. I like SF, but this was really gross. I hope no one throws tomatoes at me but I saw "Castaway" with Tom Hanks and walked out before the end. Sorry but this tour de force was just too much for me. I'd rather see Scary Movie or Police Academy! Castaway was soooooo long and there was no relief. Then the rainy scenes where he got in and out of the car with his former girlfriend now married to another guy. It was agony! I would not recommend this one to any fortysomethings like me! Disney's Dinosaurs was a dud, but not the worst. Lots of French films are excruciatingly boring but they usually have something to redeem them with.

It sounds like none of you have ever seen "Dude, Where's My Car." That was the worst movie ever made. It was terrible. I was so disappointed in that movie. I thought that "The Talented Mr. Ripley" was terrible. Can anyone explain this movie to me?? I was totally lost. I did think that "Meet Joe Black" was good, but that's just my opinion. The best part was Brad Pitt.

Last night I saw a film called "Knight Moves" starring Christopher Lambert and a fat Baldwin brother (well he looked like one). It was about a chess grand master type who was being sort of framed for murders of women in the area by a chap he beat many years before. I say sort of framed because no policeman in his right mind would have looked at the evidence and assumed Chris was the murderer. The fat Baldwin did though, being an Alpha male moron who didn't like Chris moving in on his gal. I would go on but, quite frankly, it's making me feel ill, though it was pretty funny at the time.

OK, How come nobody likes the Blair Witch? I'm going to sound really stupid here but I thought it was true. I saw a documentory on the discovery channel called the Curse of the Blair Witch And then watched the movie thinking it was real. Ok your laughing I know. But It freaked me out. I was in denial that it was fake for a long time. Ha Ha. I hated The Pledge. It's a newer movie. It was awful. [ 11-03-2001: Message edited by: Kristen ]

One movie I know is one of the worst movies I seen is "American Beauty". The movie is VERY disturbing and the point of the movie wasn't right. It's definately a movie little kids shouldn't see. The movie is a definite thumbs down.

Mack, there are lots of films that deal with adult issues that kids shouldn't see. Thousands. Doesn't make them bad films, now does it? For the record I loved American Beauty, and found it really touching. As for Blair Witch: Loved it!!

American Beauty is one of my favorite movies. I'm with you on The Pledge, Kristen. I saw that recently, expecting a lot (with that cast, I thought it was a fair expectation). I was sorely disappointed. Although I think it had artistic merit, it wasn't much in the way of entertainment.

I'll have to say the worst movie I've ever seen is Star Wars: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace. Uggh! It was such a disapointment after the original Star Wars movies!

2 movies come to mind when I think of "worst movie" 1. Brazil - I saw this movie when it first came out and I despised it, a few years ago I decided to give it another chance and.........yep, you guessed it, I still think it's the worst. 2. Rabbit Test - Another movie I saw in the theater, featuring Billy Crystal as a pregnant man, fortunately I have never attempted to see this movie again.

Man, it just goes to show how personal tastes differ. Brazil is one of my favourite films, and Terry Gilliam one of my favourite directors. The atmosphere and paranoia created by the film is incredible!

I must also say, I think the movie More American Graffiti is one of the worst. The first one was so good, and this one was so bad!

I really liked Time Bandits, that was excellent. And I really tried to like Brazil (seeing it again, even though the 1st time around was bad), but it just wasn't something that I enjoyed.

I also have to add another film which I think might be the worst of all time, and I am a fool for wasting money on it. Natural Born Killers- I actually wasted my money on 3 seperate occasions trying to get more than a 1/2 hour into this movie. I've never been able to make it all the way through, and definately never will. [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: Machine ]

I thought Brazil was pretty funny. Perhaps it's that British civil service type retro atmosphere that doesn't translate well to Americans. Come to think of it, my French husband wanted to walk out of it though, so what else is new? The new Star Wars movie was pretty excruciatingly dull in the end. The battles were so old! And that floppy eared character who was clearly aimed at becoming a stuffed toy rather than anything else! But I did think it had some redeeming value. Oh I know...Das Boot. A German film.
