You've got it right Sue, except that we're in the new place and moved out of the old one and occasionally going there to maintain it while it's up for sale.
The old one actually has a 'garden' in the American sense which I planted with nasturtiums and a few other things to look good before I left.
I guess it's the fact that we got it to this absolutely pristeen state and when people were visiting it, I kept it up....very tiring.
I never got the time to do spring or fall cleaning in it though because we did not amass enough stuff! We sold anything we didn't need on the net before we left.
Most Americans have garages that hide a bunch of stuff and yet, ours never really amassed that much either. Every man visiting it looks on it with awe...so much space.
This one where I am now, is one third the size, but has two courtyards. It's what is known as a townhouse. It needed remodeling though as it was built in the seventies and unlike its neighbors, it hadn't had much done to it.
I've had problems with the heating, the wiring, the telephone, the paint and the plumbing though it's quite liveable. It just needs much more work.
Yesterday was exhausting because the leaf guys come in and I wanted to get rid of those six bags of leaves.
I also am trying to revive some plants that have been covered with the remodeling trash amassed.
I haven't bonded with this place yet though.
