A couple of people and I formed a "Meet the Geeks" type of club at our school last year. We spent weeks trying to find my specialty before we began competitions, but it couldn't be found. At our first met I declared that my specialty was, "How the heck did she know that!” I had no clue to "obvious" questions, but was able to fluke with the little ones. I was finally characterized as being the person that could answer the questions pertaining to foreign languages, word roots, and the arts.
I always considered myself as a geek until I joined that group-- we all did. However, when we started doing competitions we found out that we couldn't be more wrong. We were put against people that fit every stereotype of a geek. It was bad and we were pummeled.
If I was to characterize myself now, I think my specialty would still be word roots, although I don’t think that is anything special. I guess I wouldn’t make it on the show anytime soon.
