Please, please keep writing England off. And you Aussies: keep telling us how many to nil you are going to whoop us by. Because, in reality, Australia do have the best players - we all know that - but have you got the best team?
England aren't scared of Australia and certainly aren't intimidated by them. I think it will be closer than you think but the Aussie strength and experience in the batting will sway it for them.
Seems we have the best team too.

Ozzz, I always wondered why you do so badly in the tipping competitions.
Because I always follow the Saints, and they play badly in EVERY sport!
Should be 5-0 by about tea tomorrow.. wonder if the Poms can play the pyjama game any better? Or do we have to rely on the Kiwis to provide some opposition...
SOME opposition perhaps, but they ALWAYS come second, so we'd just WIN again . . . C'mon Aussie, C'mon, C'mon . . . and give us that bloody Urn , it's ours, we earned it . . . 85 percent of Aussies say keep the Urn here, far out, even Richard Branson and Ian Botham agree . . .

I think I should revise my earlier prediction about the finishing time. Should be all over in the first session. Is there any truth in the rumour that Sir Richard Branson is to be stripped of his knighthood, for heresy! I am sure we can find a useful spot for him Down Here, if/when he gets transported. Perhaps head of the Australian Tourist Bureau...

It's all over. Shame really. So much potential. So much disappointment. Bye Shaaaaane. Gosh but weren't some of those hugs at the end a bit, ummm, intimate?

I guess we won't be needing that ECG anymore. It wouldn't have picked up anything in the English team.
If things like Warney saying Collingwood should be embarrassed about getting an MBE for 17 runs and telling Collingwood that his sledging is making him concentrate more is called sledging, those Poms are a bit precious aren't they? Besides anyone from St Kilda is naturally going to have an aversion to anything associated with Collingwood.
The best comeback to sledging I've ever heard actually came from a Pom. An English player (don't remember who) came out to bat and Mark Waugh laughed and said "Hey mate, what are you doing out here? There's no way you're good enough to play for England." The Pom turned to him and replied "Maybe not, but at least I'm the best player in my family."

That was James Ormond.... The 3rd Test between India and SA is turning out to be a real thriller...if we can only set SA a 4th innings target of 225-250, should be a cracker of a last day! Vintage Test cricket too here...very gripping, match turning with every session and very unlike the drab Ashes....honestly, I think the Ashes was decided the minute Harmison bowled that first ball at Brisbane to Flintoff at second slip and not to Langer Giles dropping Ponting at Adelaide was another turning point? Tell me what you all think was the turning point in this particular Ashes series...

New Zealand and Sri Lanka are having an interestingly low scoring one day series at the moment. I see that, based on win/loss ratios, Australia were the number 1 ODI nation in 2006 (of course) and tied in second place were New Zealand and BANGLADESH!
I have no doubt that Bangladesh have been playing teams like Zimbabwe, Scotland, Canada and probably England.

Time to turn our attention to what this topic is all about? "Forthcoming cricket series" The tri-series starts from 12th and I love the promos on ESPN-Star Sports "How to beat the Aussies"? 1.Pit them against the old enemy (England) 2. Throw in the arch-rivals (New Zealand) 3. Make it a three-some and 4. Hope for the best ! Shudder to think of another miserable month down under for the Englishmen. Guess by the time this tour is complete, they will be ready to throw in the towel against Kenya at the World Cup too . Pakistan and South Africa sqaure off in the first test from Thursday. India next plays 4 ODIs against West Indies at home (hopefully they will finally drop Sehwag) and follow it up with another 4 against Sri Lanka. On to the ODIs then...

Pieterson's broken rib puts him out for the rest of the tour without one win under his belt. Ouch.
Be good to see how the Kiwis start off ... they are a good one day side but it's a worry with some of their scores against Sri Lanka.

Well, let's just say that the NZ started well.. Shame they couldn't pull through, it was shaping up to be a fantastic finish! Bond took a hat-trick, as he dismissed White, Symonds and Bracken. His hat-trick was the 23rd hat-trick ever taken in ODI Cricket. Bit of a collapse from the lower order batsmen there. Taylor had it going (84 off 82 balls), but he was caught by Mitchell Johnson, and the last 6 batsmen combined just 16 runs. Symonds took a spectacular catch, and that combined with a good bowling and batting spell, earned him the man of the match!

It looked promising there for a bit, didn't it? THat hat-trick was brilliant, they're always good to see. It may not be as technically brilliant but I think it's going to be better to watch the NZ/Eng games as the teams should be on more of a level, even with PietersEn being out {L! }. Two games in HObart this year?

Closer than it should have been but England win the ODI against NZ today. from the BBC as it happened ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/cricket/england/6255903.stm ) Quote:
Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Peter Jackson, Neil Finn, Sir Edmund Hillary, Jonah Lomu - we have beaten them all! Helen Clark, can you hear me? Your boys took one hell of a beating! By three wickets...with one ball to spare...

Does anybody know how long it's been since England beat another nation in either tests or ODIs? - (added to beat the smarties) before today!

They did beat the Windies in a game in the ICC Champions trophy and there was a fair few, ODI and tests, against Pakistan when the Pakis toured in England just prior to the Champions trophy. Just went downhill after that.
And Hershelle Gibbs was banned for two matches after a racial slur directed at the crowd in the match against Pakistan.
