I was researching a quiz on Thomas Young & came across the claim he was the last person to know everything (if you have not heard of him he was a Natural Philosopher & Egyptologist). This started me wondering -
Who else has this claim beem made for?
Who was the last person who was a top university level expert in every part of Physics, Chemistry (as opposed to e.g. Organic Chemistry), Biology etc?
The dates would be particularly intersting.

More recently Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) a mathematician/philosopher, John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946) the world's greatest economist, Peter Ustinov (1921-2004) actor writer, director etc. One of the most amazing people currently is Stephen Fry (1957- ) actor, writer, director, polymath.
