I think I may actually go and check it out. I'm not much of a moviegoer...the last film I saw in a theater was Gladiator in May 2000.

I think what is most exciting about 'Lord of the Rings' is that it has my sister's godfather in it, so keep an eye out for Gimli!

Gimli is a dwarf, I remember that much.

What I want to know is: what part is Liv Tyler supposed to be playing? I saw a picture in the Entertainment section of the newspaper showing her bedecked in an elven warrior-ish style, but for the life of me I can't remember any female warriors from FOTR, elven or not. In fact, I only remember 2 females elves at all in the book, and warriors they were not.

I know that John Rhys-Davies is playing a dwarf.
forget the character name though...

Liv Tyler is playing Arawen, gorgeous elvish maiden and warrior.
Beloved of human Aragorn, played by Viggo Mortesson (sp?)

Galadriel, elven Queen is played by Aussie, Cate Blanchett

like I said, check out the website for answers to all your questions and much, much more.

Hmmm.... well unless Arwen does something spectacular in Part III (the only LOTR I haven't read) then they're severly hacked her character from the book version. The Arwen I remember didn't do much except be the object of Aragorn's affection, at least in FOTR.

Yeah, but in the trailer
the hrai-kur are coming across a river to get Frodo
and she is on a horse in the ford
she say, "you'll have to go through me to get him"
or something like that.
whips out a sword or bow and arrows...
not quite sure.

I love girls with pointy ears that can kick a$$.

Yeah, it is John Rhys-Davis, my dad used to go to school with him and they used to play second row together. Isn't that sweet!
