These are a few of my favorite films having to do with the invocation of the devil and other demonic spirits:

    Devil's Playground (1937)
    13 Ghosts (1960)
    Devil's Messenger (1962)
    Rosemary's Baby (1968)
    Exorcist, The (1973)
    Salem's Lot (1974)
    Seventh Sign (1988)
    Se7en (1995)
    Devil's Own (1997)
    Stigmata (1998)
    Idle Hands (1999)

The list goes on, but these are my top favorites.

Not really into the occult stuff, here. But I did like Hocus Pocus. Does that one count?

Yeah, LC, I was about to put that one. I just had others on my mind that I had to put down before I forgot to mark them. Yeah, that counts, though. I'm not really into occult $h!t either. I was just trying something different.

For good devilish performances...I enjoyed Max Von Sydow in "Needful Things" and Al Pacino in "Devil's Advocate". Didn't really care for those shows in general though. I also thought George Burns' performance in "Oh God, You Devil" was cute.

As for crazy spirits, I'm fond of those Evil Dead/Army of Darkness films. Evil Dead II in particular was very imaginative...

The closest I have ever seen, of a satanistic performance, was Anthony Hopkins in " Slience of the Lambs".

jazz is right. Pacino was excellent as the big guy in 'The Devil's Advocate'. 'Stigmata' was pretty fun, too. And I'd have to add Gabriel Byrne's devil from 'End of Days', even though the movie was horrendous.

I don't see how I missed "End of Days." I love that movie. I also know in the future I'm gonna be putting the new "The Devil and Daniel Webster" with Alec Baldwin, Athony Hopkins, and Love Hewitt. That's gonna overule all, in my opinion, but that's just 'cuz I like Love and I wanna see how she plays the devil.
