I managed to get a 320.9. You definitely have to hit it just right! If you hit it too "low", the penguin travels too low to the ground, thus increasing its ground contact and therefore creating more friction which slows it down and doesn't allow it to bounce. If you hit it too "high", you create the same effect as a fly ball in baseball: you use all your energy/momentum going up instead of out, and you don't travel as far. Plus, the poor penguin lands beak-first and doesn't get to skip further. Sorry, I tend to get overly technical sometimes!

And I have to say, while I did feel sorry for the penguin, it must enjoy it, because it willingly jumped down to be hit with a baseball bat!
