As of 11:30pm, it's 48°F here, and will reach 72°F tomorrow. Our highs all week are between 72°F and 79°F, which is well above December averages. We'll threaten a record high on Saturday, as the forecast is 79°F, and the record set in 1977 is 80°F. I certainly cannot complain about weather like that in December! I certainly doubt I'll see another record high on my birthday again anytime soon (82°F last year), especially since the average high is only 55°F on that day.

I had to edit this to reflect that my temperature is in Fahrenheit. Does any one know the formula for changing Celsius into Fahrenheit? Otherwise, temperature comparison becomes useless.

And there was a fair smoke haze here today ... very poor visibility. This is from the fires in Victoria, hundreds of kilometres from me ... can only shudder at what it must be like nearer the bushfires.

No figures or percentages: it's just plain dull, overcast, high wind, rain, rattling windows. Not ideal for flying model planes.
As I speak the rain has eased off but the wind has risen.

To convert Fahrenheit temperatures into Celsius:

* Begin by subtracting 32 from the Fahrenheit number.
* Divide the answer by 9.
* Then multiply that answer by 5.

Here's an example: Change 95 degrees Fahrenheit to Celsius: 95 minus 32 is 63. Then, 63 divided by 9 is 7. Finally, 7 times 5 is 35 degrees Celsius. Time to go to the beach!

To convert Celsius temperatures into Fahrenheit:

* Begin by multiplying the Celsius temperature by 9.
* Divide the answer by 5.
* Now add 32.

Here's an example: Change 20 degrees Celsius to Fahrenheit: 20 times 9 is 180. Then 180 divided by 5 is 36. Finally, 36 plus 32 is 68 degrees Fahrenheit. That would be a pretty comfortable outside temperature for taking a walk!!


Here's a rough guide to Celcius for you F users (from the point of view of a Canadian) -

40 C way too hot - people are dying on the street
30 C hot summer day - sitting in the shade temperatures
20 C lovely summer day - shorts and t shirt
10 C nice fall or spring day - light jacket
0 C just at freezing - lovely winter weather
-10 C regular winter day
-20 cold winter day - bundle up
-30 very cold, cars may not start
-40 any chance you can stay home? too cold

A quick way to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit is to double the celsius temperature and add 30.

10C = 10 + 10 +30 = 50 F(light jacket)

20C = 20 +20 +30 + 70F(shorts & tshirt)

In the Midlands of the Uk, it's in a word...'Orrible' Rainy, cold & damp, my garden is like a quagmire. not sure of the temperature but it's nasty!

We had 4 inches of snow last night. The roads are very icy with many minor traffic accidents. All mountain passes required chains or snow tires.

In flat areas this would not be considered too bad but here in the mountains we get a lot of tourists (mainly from the flat California valley areas) who do not know how to drive in snow. In these conditions, speed not only kills but can be very expensive.

Most of us have 4-wheel drive vehicles but some think FWD is a replacement for common sense.

It's time to hide from the idiots so I am staying home today.

Today in South East England, the weather was superb - what I call a 'good to be alive day'! Blue sky, sunny, but cold and clear. I was out mountain biking, though not to Tellywellies standard I hasten to say, for a couple of hours, and it was wonderful!

Snow snow snow snow....
Lots of snow, with high winds, yesterday, so there are big hard drifts everywhere. Today, brilliant blue sky, and dazzling white everywhere. About minus 5, with a bit of wind, so very nice, all around.

Opposite to Agony ... hot here ... over 40* at lunch time. Just hope it's a cool day for Christmas.

Copago it's hot down this end as well, ranging my mid 20's to mid 30's tomorrow. Sydney has a long term forecast of 21* for Christmas. I don't know what that means for you Copago.

A 15 day forecast has given Adelaide a temperature of 26* for Christmas! Sounds like a pleasant Christmas this year!

12-19 * today. It feels much colder than 12 here , we usually get it much colder in the New Nerritories than in town. It is a bit sunny though. Roll on Summer.

At 9:15pm, it is 68°F (20°C) here, and shouldn't drop much overnight. Mid-week, we'll be back to about normal, with highs in the mid 50's (~11-13°C). Looks like a cold rain for Christmas, as they are forecasting 50°F for a high.

Yikes, Copago, over 104°F at lunch? Makes me think it's July here. I can relate to the heat, as you well know!
