I perfectly understand - I fully expected to hate it when I first tuned in but found I loved it, but there's no getting over something like that if it jars on you. It's like a character annoying you.

Actually - all the characters are pretty bad.

I know it's a drama and that format tries to make it's characters more realistic than they often are in comedies - but these people are all hugely insulting.

And c'mon! A guy this rude would never be allowed to do a job like the one he does. So there's the far-fetched aspect. Add to that the fact that the main character is a rip-off of about 100 other TV characters that came before him.

Of course, Dr. House is the best, especially when he's around Cuddy.

Then I'm wondering why you watch it? I tend not to if I find something unbelievable or annoying. Just me.

I love watching House, I never miss it. They are all my favorites. They each play off of each other so well, that it wouldn't be the same kind of show if one of them were not on it,I do think I would love to go toe to toe with a verbal sparring match with House.

I enjoy watching House. Which is rare, because I think most medical shows are huge steaming piles of dung (Except Scrubs!). Forget ER, forget Third Watch, Forget that totally crappy Australian show All Saints (if I hear one more patient wax euphoric over All Saints, I'm gonna hurl), watch House.

I've always loved Hugh Laurie - you're not that old if you remember him in Blackadder or Alas Fry and Laurie - and this shows another side of this terrific actor. I've been compared to the character of Gregory House (Which I take as a compliment, despite the intent of the deliverer of the statement), so I guess in a way I must identify with him.

I'm not sure that I see him as a sex symbol exactly, but I guess both he and William Petersen (Gil Grissom, CSI) could be referred to as "The Thinking Woman's Sex Symbol".

Only just got into House since a couple of months ago, have watched seasons 1 and 2, and can't wait to buy season 3 on DVD! Favourite characters are House (of course), Wilson, and Chase. Cameron grates on me, and Foreman annoys me sometimes depending on the episode! Does anyone know of a UK release date for Season 4?

I have to confess I have never watched House. I don't know why, maybe it's because I knew it would become another show I'd have to make time for. I just love Sela Ward and I have been a Hugh Laurie fan dating back to the eighties when he appeared on The Young Ones (Bambie) and know I would enjoy seeing them in this series, but I think since I missed the earlier seasons I would have to play catch-up and knew I couldn't. So I had to let this one go.....maybe during the summer I can rent the DVDs and start then.

I love watching House! Kids at school haven't even heard of the show but i'm addicted. Hugh Laurie does such a brilliant american acent so if you hadn't ever seen him before you could mistake him for a real american. My mum just says i like the show becuase i have his dry heartless sense of humour but i think the show is really well scripted and thought out. I have seen every episode there is to see and i've even seen a bit of season 4. my favourite character is definitely Dr Gregory House. The best actor for the right job!

Did anyone else catch the season finale last night? I thought that was the most tragically sad episode of television I've watched in quite a while!

"House" is the only show I will not miss. Not ashamed to say, I sobbed like a baby last night. That was so tragic and moving. I have a lot of thoughts on what the next season will be like also, as they can't just drop what happened and not carry through with it, can they?

The writing and directing were so excellent - I felt like I was there! (hence the sobbing...)

It seemed to me, because I was so caught up in it, that it only lasted for about 30 minutes, if that. A lot of shows do an extended slot for season finales and this is one that I feel should have. Not the only one sobbing, eh?

Oh no, you weren't the only one, and that is not typical for me in the least. And I agree with you - this has to greatly change the dynamics of the show next year.

It's amazing how the snarling and barely functioning Dr. House seems to captivate female viewers [ most all the replies on this thread, as far as I can tell, seem to be from women.] Maybe this is an indication that the 'sensitivity needle' of the 80's has finally veered in more of a 50's direction - many women are once more drawn toward rugged, curmudgeonly men.
I have to admit that Gregory House is a brilliant and fascinating life form, but not necessarily one I'd like to see across the breakfast table. Unlike a Harrison Ford character, poor House's soft heart-if it really exists-is buried under so much physical pain and disillusionment that it would take a tremendous amount of emotional excavation to uncover it. I used to think that one would have to have a tender side in order to do what he does for a living. Then I realised that what some might mistake for compassion may actually be pure drive and hard core ambition -the need to solve a difficult puzzle - but nothing more.
For me, he'd be an entertaining neighbour, or maybe the cop who reads me my Miranda rights ...enjoyable in small doses. Any longer encounter than the above mentioned instances and I bet I'd find myself scouting the room for a blunt object.

Funny thing about the lack of accent - I remember going into the family room and catching one of those pre-season blurbs for a new series. I had heard part of it while in the other room and wanted to see what they were talking about. I looked, listened, and did a double take thinking, "That's Hugh Laurie, no it can't be him, it is him, but where is his accent and why is he doing an American TV series?" Of course, I'm very glad it was and he is!
