Does anyone find it a bit annoying when an author doesn't fully describe the characters? Without a good description, I can't picture them, which I like to do. The Left Behind series is good at that. I have never found a full description of Rayford or Buck. But Tamora Pierce gives lots of descriptions to her characters.

Which one do you prefer?

Doesn't matter to me. I tend to base my mental picture on their actions anyway, so I more or less ignore the author's description.
