A $110,000 Italian sports car may be a write-off after it was flipped on its roof by a forklift-driving construction worker. The dark blue Maserati 3200 GT was parked next to a signposted construction zone in Elizabeth Bay in Sydney's affluent eastern suburbs and was allegedly obstructing access to a building site.

A labourer for SMS Construction used a forklift to lift the car nearly two metres in the air in an attempt to shift it up the street, but the vehicle wobbled off the end of the forks and flipped mid-air before landing on its roof shortly after 7am. It is believed the forklift driver ran away from the scene, but police said he may be charged over the incident.

The owner of the vehicle is currently holidaying in South America. His sister was minding the car and had parked it the night before.

How funny. I hope there isn't too long a waiting list for a replacement.

Serves them right. I have a friend who is handicapped, and any time he sees someone without a handicapped tag parked in a handicapped spot, he blocks them in.

The story says it might be written off. I don't see that, a new roof some paint, good as new
