Thanks for saving this thread from going over the falls, Stu. This is one of my favourite Dylan songs. In a way, it reminds me of those ridiculous chain games we play about mysterious strangers and desert islands... Up on the white veranda She wears a necktie and a Panama hat. Her passport shows a face From another time and place She looks nothin' like that. And all the remnants of her recent past Are scattered in the wild wind. She walks across the marble floor Where a voice from the gambling room is callin' her to come on in. She smiles, walks the other way As the last ship sails and the moon fades away From Black Diamond Bay. As the mornin' light breaks open, the Greek comes down And he asks for a rope and a pen that will write. "Pardon, monsieur," the desk clerk says, Carefully removes his fez, "Am I hearin' you right?" And as the yellow fog is liftin' The Greek is quickly headin' for the second floor. She passes him on the spiral staircase Thinkin' he's the Soviet Ambassador, She starts to speak, but he walks away As the storm clouds rise and the palm branches sway On Black Diamond Bay. A soldier sits beneath the fan Doin' business with a tiny man who sells him a ring. Lightning strikes, the lights blow out. The desk clerk wakes and begins to shout, "Can you see anything?" Then the Greek appears on the second floor In his bare feet with a rope around his neck, While a loser in the gambling room lights up a candle, Says, "Open up another deck." But the dealer says, "Attendez-vous, s'il vous plait,'' As the rain beats down and the cranes fly away From Black Diamond Bay. The desk clerk heard the woman laugh As he looked around the aftermath and the soldier got tough. He tried to grab the woman's hand, Said, "Here's a ring, it cost a grand." She said, "That ain't enough." Then she ran upstairs to pack her bags While a horse-drawn taxi waited at the curb. She passed the door that the Greek had locked, Where a handwritten sign read, "Do Not Disturb." She knocked upon it anyway As the sun went down and the music did play On Black Diamond Bay. "I've got to talk to someone quick!" But the Greek said, "Go away," and he kicked the chair to the floor. He hung there from the chandelier. She cried, "Help, there's danger near Please open up the door!" Then the volcano erupted And the lava flowed down from the mountain high above. The soldier and the tiny man were crouched in the corner Thinking of forbidden love. But the desk clerk said, "It happens every day," As the stars fell down and the fields burned away On Black Diamond Bay. As the island slowly sank The loser finally broke the bank in the gambling room. The dealer said, "It's too late now. You can take your money, but I don't know how You'll spend it in the tomb." The tiny man bit the soldier's ear As the floor caved in and the boiler in the basement blew, While she's out on the balcony, where a stranger tells her, "My darling, je vous aime beaucoup." She sheds a tear and then begins to pray As the fire burns on and the smoke drifts away From Black Diamond Bay. I was sittin' home alone one night in L.A., Watchin' old Cronkite on the seven o'clock news. It seems there was an earthquake that Left nothin' but a Panama hat And a pair of old Greek shoes. Didn't seem like much was happenin', So I turned it off and went to grab another beer. Seems like every time you turn around There's another hard-luck story that you're gonna hear And there's really nothin' anyone can say And I never did plan to go anyway To Black Diamond Bay.

I didn't know that one, love (and I mean that in the most Australian sense). Allow me to respond in kind:
Well, if you're travelin' in the north country fair, Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline, Remember me to one who lives there. She once was a true love of mine.
Well, if you go when the snowflakes storm, When the rivers freeze and summer ends, Please see if she's wearing a coat so warm, To keep her from the howlin' winds.
Please see for me if her hair hangs long, If it rolls and flows all down her breast. Please see for me if her hair hangs long, That's the way I remember it.
I'm a-wonderin' if she remembers me at all. Many times I've often prayed In the darkness of my night, In the brightness of my day.
So if you're travelin' in the north country fair, Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline, Remember me to one who lives there. She once was a true love of mine.
This one has, in fact, been on my mind a great deal lately

Maybe I should've put this in the 'Songs That Cheer You Up' thread in the music cellar...but I like it being here, too. I remember sitting in the dark, night after night -listening to this when I was back in high school.
It was just after sunrise and down by the sea down on the sandflats where nothin' will grow come drummin' and footsteps like out of a dream where the golden green waters come in
Just nine lucky soldiers had come through the night Half of them wounded and barely alive Just nine out of twenty was a headed for home with eleven sad stories to tell
I remember quite clearly when I got out of bed I said oh good morning what a beautiful day

With the current state of world politics and inter-country relations (particularly the USA) I have been thinking a lot about our role in this world and the choice we have to make a difference or to accept what we are given. There are so many songs and artists out there who put this topic into their songs but I recently heard this one for the first time in years. Originally by the great John Lennon and has been covered many times (my personal favourite is Marianne Faithfull) it has been given new life by Greenday, who I think are maturing wonderfully with their music of late.
Anyway, provokes thoughts and stirs emotion.
NB: I mean absolutely no disrespect to the citizens of the USA, I am merely stating a personal opinion about the current administration......
As soon as your born they make you feel small, By giving you no time instead of it all, Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be.
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school, They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool, Till you're so ******** crazy you can't follow their rules, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be. When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years, Then they expect you to pick a career, When you can't really function you're so full of fear, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be.
Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV, And you think you're so clever and classless and free, But you're still ******* peasents as far as I can see, A working class hero is something to be, A working class hero is something to be.
There's room at the top they are telling you still, But first you must learn how to smile as you kill, If you want to be like the folks on the hill, A working class hero is something to be. A working class hero is something to be.
If you want to be a hero well just follow me, If you want to be a hero well just follow me.

I always forget how much I like this song until those rare occasions when a weekend disc jockey plays it (between Justin Timberlake and Pink, of course ). Some "friends", cheeky and possibly observant as they were, used to say it should be my [ahem] theme song . It's not a mysterious tune and I suspect most are familiar with it. But I like the lyrics very much...Desperado, why don't you come to your senses? You been out ridin' fences for so long now. Oh, you're a hard one, I know that you got your reasons; These things that are pleasin' you Can hurt you somehow. Don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy, She'll beat you if she's able. You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet. Now it seems to me some fine things Have been laid upon your table... But you only want the ones that you can't get. Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger. Your pain and your hunger, theyre drivin' you home - And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'. Your prison is walking through this world all alone. Don't your feet get cold in the winter time? The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine, Its hard to tell the night time from the day. You're losin' all your highs and lows. Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away? Desperado, why don't you come to your senses? Come down from your fences, open the gate. It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you. You better let somebody love you, before it's too late... edited for a typo or two

mmmm...I love The Eagles. Good song My choice would be this song. I didn't even think I liked Bruce Springsteen, but then I heard this song and everything changed (Nothing Man)...Amazing artist. I don't remember how I felt I never thought I'd live To read about myself In my hometown paper How my brave young life Was forever changed In a misty cloud of pink vapor Darlin' give me your kiss Only understand I am the nothing man Around here everybody acts the same Around here everybody acts like nothing's changed Friday night club meets at Al's Barbecue The sky is still the same unbelievable blue Darlin' give me your kiss Come and take my hand I am the nothing man You can call me Joe Buy me a drink and shake my hand You want courage I'll show you courage you can understand Pearl and silver Restin' on my night table It's just me Lord, pray I'm able Darlin' with this kiss Say you understand I am the nothing man I am the nothing man

So many beautiful songs in here!
I can't resist posting my number one favourite - "Protection" by Massive Attack. Tracey Thorn's voice is amazing on this one and the song was written while her husband was lying in a hospital bed with a life-threatening illness that nearly killed him.
Protection
This girl I know needs some shelter She don't believe anyone can help her She's doing so much harm, doing so much damage But you don't want to get involved You tell her she can manage And you can't change the way she feels But you could put your arms around her
I know you want to live yourself But could you forgive yourself If you left her just the way You found her
I stand in front of you I'll take the force of the blow Protection.
You're a boy and i'm a girl But you know you can lean on me And I don't have no fear I'll take on any man here Who says that's not the way it should be
I stand in front of you I'll take the force of the blow Protection.
She's a girl and you're a boy Sometimes you look so small, look so small You've got a baby of your own When your baby's gone, she'll be the one To catch you when you fall
I stand in front of you I'll take the force of the blow Protection.
You're a girl and i'm a boy.
Sometimes you look so small, need some shelter Just runnin' round and round, helter skelter And I've leaned on you for years Now you can lean on me And that's more than love, that's the way it should be Now I can't change the way you feel But I can put my arms around you That's just part of the deal That's the way I feel I'll put my arms around you
I stand in front of you I'll take the force of the blow Protection.
You're a boy and i'm a girl.

This is a call to the colorblind This is an IOU I'm stranded behind the horizon line Tied up in something true
Yes I'm grounded Got my wings clipped I'm surrounded by all this pavement Guess I'll circle While I'm waiting for my fuse to dry
Someday I'll fly Someday I'll soar Someday I'll be so damn much more Cause I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for
Why is it not the time? What is there more to learn? I shed this skin I've been tripping in Never to quite return
Yes I'm grounded Got my wings clipped I'm surrounded by all this pavement Guess I'll circle While I'm waiting for my fuse to dry
Someday I'll fly Someday I'll soar Someday I'll be so damn much more Cause I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for Cause I'm bigger than my body now
Maybe I'll tangle in the power lines And it might be over in a second's time But I'll gladly go down in a flame If a flame's what it takes to remember my name To remember my name, yeah
Yes I'm grounded Got my wings clipped I'm surrounded by all this pavement Guess I'll circle While I'm waiting for my fuse to dry Waiting for my fuse to dry
Someday I'll fly Someday I'll soar Someday I'll be so damn much more Cause I'm bigger than my body I'm bigger than my body I'm bigger than my body now

This is one of the few songs that gives me a lump in my throat whenever I hear it..(what a softie) The first time ever I saw your face I thought the sun rose in your eyes And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave To the dark and the empty skies, my love, To the dark and the empty skies. The first time ever I kissed your mouth And felt your heart beat close to mine Like the trembling heart of a captive bird That was there at my command, my love That was there at my command. And the first time ever I lay with you I felt your heart so close to mine And I knew our joy would fill the earth And last till the end of time my love It would last till the end of time my love The first time ever I saw your face, your face, your face, your face This is such a beautiful song!

You always won, everytime you placed a bet Youre still damn good, no ones gotten to you yet Everytime they were sure they had you caught You were quicker than they thought Youd just turn your back and walk You always said, the cards would never do you wrong The trick you said was never piay the game too long A gamblers share, the only risk that you would take The only loss you could forsake The only bluff you couldnt fake
And youre still the same I caught up with you yesterday Moving game to game No one standing in your way Turning on the charm Long enough to get you by Youre still the same You still aim high
There you stood, everybody watched you play I just turned and walked away I had nothing left to say
cause youre still the same

This one is by Tori Amos. It ALWAYS manages to get my emotions rolling. Brings back childhood feelings and fears of lost time and opportunities. Very stirring.....
Snow can wait I forgot my mittens Wipe my nose Get my new boots on I get a little warm in my heart When I think of winter I put my hand in my father's glove I run off where the drifts get deeper Sleeping beauty trips me with a frown I hear a voice "Your must learn to stand up for yourself, Cause I can't always be around" He says
When you gonna make up your mind When you gonna love you as much as I do When you gonna make up your mind Cause things are gonna change so fast All the white horses are still in bed I tell you that I'll always want you near You say that things change, my dear
Boys get discovered as winter melts Flowers competing for the sun Years go by and I'm here still waiting Withering where some snowman was Mirror mirror where's the crystal palace But I only can see myself Skating around the truth who I am But I know dad, the ice is getting thin
When you gonna make up your mind When you gonna love you as much as I do When you gonna make up your mind Cause things are gonna change so fast All the white horses are still in bed I tell you that I'll always want you near You say that things change, my dear
Hair is grey And the fires are burning So many dreams On the shelf You say I wanted you to be proud of me I always wanted that myself
He says When you gonna make up your mind When you gonna love you as much as I do When you gonna make up your mind Cause things are gonna change so fast All the white horses have gone ahead I tell you that I'll always want you near You say that things change My dear

I would just like to thanks and also curse the people who put the lyrics to "One" by U2. That's my favourite song and the lyrics means everything to me. But this is my second choice.
Throw out all my thoughts That's what I want to do There's things I want to say to you I look up to the sky And close my eyes And think of you
I've met no-one like you before I think I love you And there's nothing I could want more I think I love you
I feel happier today I feel OK Breathe in and sigh I look at where you stand We leave this land You make me fly There's things that we both know Can't let each other go
I've met no-one like you before I think I love you And there's nothing I could want more I think I love you
And to save you for better things You could watch me die and live this world without me on this stolen hill I would multiply into a thousand thoughts And through your heart I'd come back to you and tell you to move on...
Move on...
I've met no-one like you before I think I love you And there's nothing I could want more You know I love you.
Incidentally, that song by Tori is amazing. It makes me cry sometimes, if I'm having a very weak day. So does "Spark"...
Just one more...
I know it's late now, I know I ought to go Drive in your car now, but please don't drop me home My head's so heavy, could this be all my dream Promise me maybes and say things you don't mean
Let rain fall from concrete coloured skies No, boy, don't speak, now you just drive, drive, drive, speed me through make me feel alive, when I ride with you...
Keep my heart turning on it's axils around you Keep our love burning just like we used to do Now, just for us, they could play our favourite tune And let's not discuss all these things we can't undo
Let rain fall from concrete coloured skies No, boy, don't speak, now you just drive, drive, drive, speed me through make me feel alive, when I ride with you...
Let rain fall from concrete coloured skies No, boy, don't speak, now you just drive

I LOVE this tune . It used to be on my blog, P.S. (meaning "Pre-Snit" ). But I missed it so thought I'd add it to these other fine songs over here. ... And, I have to say, the lyrics here lose something without the completely right music that goes with them ~ but the words are still pretty good on their own, I think.Love of mine some day you will die But I'll be close behind I'll follow you into the dark No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white Just our hands clasped so tight Waiting for the hint of a spark If Heaven and Hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black And I held my tongue as she told me "Son fear is the heart of love" So I never went back If Heaven and Hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark You and me have seen everything to see From Bangkok to Calgary And the soles of your shoes are all worn down The time for sleep is now It's nothing to cry about Cause we'll hold each other soon The blackest of rooms If Heaven and Hell decide That they both are satisfied Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you When your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark Then I'll follow you into the dark...

What a beautiful song Gats.
This one is by an Australian singer called Missy Higgins. I believe it is about a strong friendship or relationship with a person who is suffering from depression. As with so many other songs, you really have to hear it with the music (piano) to fully appreciate it however the lyrics still get the point across....
Just lay it all down Put your face into my neck and let it fall out. I know, I know, I know I knew before you got home.
This world you're in now It doesn't have to be alone. I'll get there somehow. 'Cause I know, I know, I know when even springtime feels cold.
But I will learn to breathe this ugliness you see so we can both be there and we can both share the dark. And in our honesty, together we will rise out of our nightminds and into the light at the end of the fight.
You were blessed by, a different kind of inner view, it's so magnified. The highs will make you fly but the lows make you want to die. I was once there, hanging from that very ledge where you are standing. So I know, I know, I know it's easier to let go.
But I will learn to breathe this ugliness you see so we can both be there and we can both share the dark. And in our honesty, together we will rise out of our nightminds and into the light at the end of the fight.
And in our honesty together we will rise out of our nightminds and into the light at the end of the fight....

Never heard of Missy Higgins... must try to find her stuff . I'd never heard this song until a few hours ago. I liked it, music and lyrics went together really well. Kinda sad , though - but it works (in my opinion).... She loves her mama's lemonade, Hates the sounds that goodbyes make. She prays one day she'll find someone to need her. She swears that there's no difference, Between the lies and compliments. It's all the same if everybody leaves her. And every magazine tells her she's not good enough, The pictures that she sees make her cry. And she would change everything, everything - just ask her. Caught in the in-between of beautiful disaster, And she needs someone to take her home. She's giving boys what they want, tries to act so nonchalant, Afraid they'll see that she's lost her direction. She never stays the same for long, Assuming that she'll get it wrong. Perfect only in her imperfection.... She's not a drama queen, She doesn't want to feel this way, only seventeen but tired. She would change everything for "happy ever after". Caught in the in-between of beautiful disaster, But she just needs someone to take her home. Cuz she's just the way she is, but no ones told her that's OK. And she would change everything, everything - just ask her. Caught in the in-between of beautiful disaster, And she would change everything for "happy ever after". Caught in the in-between of beautiful disaster. But she just needs someone to take her home, She just needs someone to take her home...

Sorry - today, I just couldn't resist:
Melinda was mine 'Til the time That I found her Holding Jim Loving him
Then you came along Loved me strong That's what I thought Me and you That died too
Don't know that I will But until I can find me A girl who'll stay And won't play games behind me I'll be what I am A solitary man Solitary man Solitary man
I've had it to here Bein' where Love's a small world Part-time thing Paper ring
I know it's been done Havin' one Girl who loves you Right or wrong Weak or strong
Don't know that I will But until I can find me The girl who'll stay And won't play games behind me I'll be what I am A solitary man Solitary man

I've been a ND fan since the age of ten, Stu. Don't apologise -it's good stuff This is a hard, bluesy old tune by the McGarrigle sisters which I've loved since it was recorded in the 1970s. You should hear the tune -it's wonderful. My daddy came to see me He came dressed in black He said Katie dear You know I want you back... Oh no, oh no, oh no You know I want you back again You know I can't stand to live alone I got up from my bed Jumped back from the cold Said "You're looking good" And I said "I'm feelin' old" Oh no, oh no, oh no I'll give you silver, give you gold I'll give you anything your little hand can hold He came back on the Friday He came dressed in brown He said "Tell me now, Well do I swim or do I drown?" Oh no, oh no, oh no You know I had to say yes Because I couldn't let that poor boy down...

Sigh* - a "guilty pleasures" moment to share today ... In a church by the face He talks about the people going under. Only child know. A man decides after seventy years That what he goes there for Is to unlock the door, While those around him criticize and sleep. And through a fractal on that breaking wall I see you, my friend, and touch your face again. Miracles will happen as we trip. But we're never gonna survive unless We get a little crazy; No, we're never gonna survive unless We are a little Cray cray crazy... Crazy are the people walking through my head! One of them's got a gun to shoot the other one. And yet together they were friends at school... Get it, get it, get it, yeah! If all were there when we first took the pill? Then maybe, then maybe, then maybe, then maybe Miracles will happen as we speak. But we're never gonna survive unless We get a little crazy. No we're never gonna survive unless We are a little Crazy! No, no - we'll never survive unless we get a little bit... A man decides to go along after seventy years Oh darlin'! In a sky full of people, only some want to fly. Isn't that crazy? In a world full of people, only some want to fly! Isn't that crazy Crazy? In a heaven of people there's only some want to fly. Ain't that crazy? Oh, babe. Oh, darlin'! In a world full of people there's only some want to fly Isn't that crazy? Isn't that crazy? Isn't that crazy? Isn't that crazy? Ohh... But we're never gonna survive unless we get a little crazy crazy. No we're never gonna to survive unless we are a little crazy. But we're never gonna survive unless we get a little crazy, crazy. No, we're never gonna to survive unless we are a little crazy. No no never survive unless we get a little bit... And then you see things The size of which you've never known before. They'll break it Someday. Only child know Them things The size Of which you've never known before. Someday...

This is how I feel today..(sighs) My mind's never where it should be.. always something to fret over! (Yeah, yeah, oh-yeah, what condition my condition was in) I woke up this mornin' with the sundown shinin' in I found my mind in a brown paper bag within I tripped on a cloud and fell-a eight miles high I tore my mind on a jagged sky I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in (Yeah, yeah, oh-yeah, what condition my condition was in) I pushed my soul in a deep dark hole and then I followed it in I watched myself crawlin' out as I was a-crawlin' in I got up so tight I couldn't unwind I saw so much I broke my mind I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in (Yeah, yeah, oh-yeah, what condition my condition was in) Someone painted "April Fool" in big black letters on a "Dead End" sign I had my foot on the gas as I left the road and blew out my mind Eight miles outta Memphis and I got no spare Eight miles straight up downtown somewhere I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in I said I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in Yeah yeah oh-yeah

Another assembly of lyrics that find a different region in me every time I read them. Today, it seems, they landed in the right "country" in that peculiar continent called My Head....
Breaking the signal So it's totally unreadable, Drinking the dregs, Eating the utterly inedible. We do what we do All for you! All dressed up, Black hat and white cane ~ Slowly there circling the drain Ready for the future. Ready for the world about to come...
Shooting the sequel before the treatment's even finished, Sanding numbers off the monojects As our slight returns diminish. We are what we are Get in the goddamn car! Smiling faces flawlessly rehearsed, We are sleek and beautiful. We are cursed. Ready for the future, Ready for the world about to come...

I don't really think that I have to give this one much of an introduction, other than telling you that it's by Poe.
Come here - Pretty please Can you tell me where I am? Why won't you say something? I need to get my bearings I'm lost And the shadows keep on changing
And I'm haunted By the lives that I have loved And actions I have hated I'm haunted By the lives that wove the web Inside my haunted head
Don't cry, there's always a way Here in November in this house of leaves we'll pray Please, I know it's hard to believe To see a perfect forest Through so many splintered trees You and me And these shadows keep on changing
And I'm haunted By the lives that I have loved And actions I have hated I'm haunted By the promises I've made And others I have broken I'm haunted By the lives that wove the web Inside my haunted head
Always, always, always...
I'll always, love you I'll always, need you I'll always, want you
And I will always miss you
Come here - No I won't say please One more look at the ghost Before I'm gonna make it leave Come here, I've got the pieces here Time to gather up the splinters Build a casket for my tears
I'm haunted (By the lives that I have loved) I'm haunted (By the promises I've made) I'm haunted By the hallways in this tiny room The echos there of me and you The voices that are carrying this tune

Old And Wise
by Alan Parsons Project
As far as my eyes can see There are shadows approaching me And to those I left behind I wanted you to know You've always shared my deepest thoughts You follow where I go And oh when I'm old and wise Bitter words mean little to me Autumn winds would blow right through me And someday in the mist of time When they asked me if I knew you I'd smile and say you were a friend of mine And the sadness would be lifted from my eyes Oh when I'm old and wise
As far as my eyes can see There are shadows surrounding me And to those I leave behind I want all all you to know You've always shared my darkest hours I'll miss you when I go And oh when I'm old and wise Heavy words that tossed and blew me Like Atumn winds that blow right through me And someday in the mist of time When they ask you if you knew me Remember that you were a friend of mine As the final curtain falls before my eyes Oh when I'm old and wise As far as my eyes can see

This is a familiar old song from an amazing man - Neil Young.
I wanna live with a cinnamon girl I could be happy the rest of my life With a cinnamon girl.
A dreamer of pictures I run in the night You see us together, chasing the moonlight, My cinnamon girl.
Ten silver saxes, a bass with a bow The drummer relaxes and waits between shows For his cinnamon girl.
A dreamer of pictures I run in the night You see us together, chasing the moonlight, My cinnamon girl.

Baby we can talk all night But that ain't getting us nowhere I told you everything I possibly can There's nothing left inside of here
And maybe you can cry all night But that'll never change the way I feel The snow is really piling up outside I wish you wouldn't make me leave here
I poured it on and I poured it out I tried to show you just how much I care I'm tired of words and I'm too hoarse to shout But you've been cold to me so long I'm crying icicles instead of tears
And all I can do is keep on telling you I want you I need you But there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you Now don't be sad 'Cause two out of three ain't bad Now don't be sad 'Cause two out of three ain't bad
You'll never find your gold on a sandy beach You'll never drill for oil on a city street I know you're looking for a ruby In a mountain of rocks But there ain't no Coupe de Ville hiding At the bottom of a Cracker Jack box
I can't lie I can't tell you that I'm something I'm not No matter how I try I'll never be able to give you something Something that I just haven't got
There's only one girl that I will ever love And that was so many years ago And though I know I'll never get her out of my heart She never loved me back, ooh I know I remember how she left me on a stormy night She kissed me and got out of our bed And though I pleaded and I begged her Not to walk out that door She packed her bags and turned right away
And she kept on telling me She kept on telling me She kep on telling me I want you I need you But there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you Now don't be sad 'Cause two out of three ain't bad Don't be sad 'Cause two out of three ain't bad
Baby we can talk all night But that ain't getting us nowhere
Ich bin ein cornball
