I don't blame you.Not a chance in H*ll would I be going there now.

I am sure the FT gang will protect you from the nasty things.

Who knows you could come home with a snakeskin belt or hat band.Yuck!

I am sure you will be safe.I would buy a good pair of strong hiking boots though.

Maybe by the time you go they will all have left and gone back to where they belong.

Let's hope so.

Don't worry Ren, we will protect you! Although the 16 year old mentioned in the article was from the next suburb to me and I'm NOT in the bush! It was very sad really, apparently he panicked and ran after he was bitten and by the time aid was given it was too late.

Oh Ren, such a media beat-up, yes snakes head toward more urban areas in dry times, but that happens every summer . . . and, in all my years I've seen probably two 'poisonous' snakes (Red-bellied Blacks) and I've travelled quite a lot round Down Under . . . you'll be just fine . . . the snakes are usually far more wary of humans than we are of them . . . mind you, where I live there are a lot of horses, and snakes DO NOT like horses . . . so maybe you could bring one with you . . . LOL!!

OK I will start out now... I had a swift look at a red-bellied black. I have to say it is very beautiful. However. I will be bringing strong shoes and leaving the flip flops at home.

Thigh-high boots might be the order of the day dear, I shall have to look on ebay to see if I can find you a nice pair, perhaps in nice shiny red pvc with spike heels.

These might fit the bill although not vey shiny.

That's funny because last summer and so far this summer I haven't seen a snake at all and usually we'd get at least five just in our yard. The drought has scared them all off to the cities! Least there is one good thing about it

You should take Jack as your body guard, Sara, on your trip - he has no fear and will get them for you. That is all you are to use him for though ....

She isn't to be trusted. I had huge problems keeping her from popping out into the garden every ten minutes to view 'our men'.

I wonder if you can 'hire a little man' in Australia for Ren.
