yeah, we had a topic on that earlier, didn't we?
or maybe I'm just hallucinating?
that's entirely possible.

yes, great flick.
perfect casting...great script to work with.
CGI was awesome...good fight scenes.
McKellan is a god. and so is Lee.

I should be ashamed of myself but I haven't seen it yet. Some friends told me that is very different from the book, but was "Dracula" and I loved it.

Sorry folks, I thought it sucked!
The only reason I saw it, was because Harry Potter had sold out. I had just driven over 100 km to take two seven year olds to see a movie. Namely, Harry Potter!!! Lord of the Rings was their second choice, and as I already said, it sucked.
BTW, I am a sci-fi fan, not a fantasy fan! There is a huge difference, and now I know what and why that is!!!!!!!

I certainly don't think 'Lord' was perfect.
but I felt it was very entertaining.

so, you prefer Star Wars, Star Trek and Babylon 5?

Hated it!

Edited by Sue943 to remove the excess 'smilies', or should I say grumpies? Please don't post great rows of them. Thank you.

I liked it OK the first time I saw it, but for some reason I liked it more the second time around...Not sure why but whatever! Can't wait to see The Two Towers now.

I am not a great Fantasy lover, I like sci-fi much more (at least to read). I didn't even like the LOTR books all that much. However I thought the movies were terrific - the best movies ever.

I saw FOTR 8 times at the cinema, and The Two Towers 10 times.

My take on the Two Towers, as an action adventure film it was great, the set work was breath taking, the stunts were incredible the CGI was awesome.

However as an adaptation of the second book of the Lord of the Rings, it stunk worse that 12-day-old road kill in the middle of a summer heat wave.

From the first film I had the feeling that the director had at least read the book, with this one I felt he had just browsed the Cliff-notes.

Yes, that's exactly what I thought about "The Two Towers". As a movie it was brilliant, but as an adaptation it was pretty poor - way too much Hollywood in it! But since I am an optimist, I'm looking forward to the third movie... there's so much action in the book that they won't have to change anything in order to bring more action into the movie, so I sincerely hope that the third movie will be as close to the book as the first one.

I read somewhere, that to stay true to the books the three movies would need to be about 100 hours long

I do not see the LOTR movies as adaptions on the books but as movies based on the books. The basic story has not been changed but many non-essential elements have.

I think that a great deal of the book will be cut for the ROTK. I think that the movie will end prematurely when compared to the book.
